Guntur Medical College: Journey of a Med Student

Overall Rating
I personally had very good experience in my college. I selected this college during my counseling process because it is my hometown and very near to my house. It had very good ambience. The tertiary care hospital associated with our college is very large and receives an OP of nearly 2000 per day. This file of patients is very helpful for education purposes.
 

Academics Rating
The course I had taken in Guntur Medical College is MBBS (Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine). All the medical seats in our college are A category seats (merit based.) It educates a count of nearly 250s students a year. To get entry into our college for MBBS, one should get a good range in the eligibility exam conducted by NTA i.e. NEET-UG conducted an annually in May. Admission procedure is handled by the administration committee of the college under the guidance of Medical Council. In an academic year, there will be 3 internal exams and one final conducted by the University.
We should pay Rs. 15,000/- annually as an academic fee. In addition, admission fee is Rs. 10,000/- and additional fee of nearly Rs. 500/- should be paid for the departments for record books.
 

Faculty Rating
The method of teaching of the faculty members in our college is using PPTs & smart boards. Faculty is very talented and helps children to solve and to learn things. Each department has nearly 15 to 20 faculties. All faculties are very friendly to the students and help them in both academics and personal life.
 

Placement Rating
Since ours is a Medical College, we have postings daily to the tertiary care hospital there. The bedside patient knowledge helps a medico to learn more regarding medicine and each department has nearly 3 to 4 PGs seat per year, which was allotted according to their rank in the national entrance exams.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, there is it hostel facility for students coming from distant places. Since this one is an old college, some places of the hostel need to be renovated and each room content 2 to 4 students. There is separate hostel for both boys and girls. The mess food is very good. Hostel fee is nearly Rs. 20,000/- annually. Hostels gates closed by 8:30 PM at night. I did not have any personal hostel staying experience since I am a day scholar.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Regarding MBBS, there are 19 departments present in College. there are 8 departments for 1st and 2nd academic year and part 1 of the third academic year and remaining are in the hospital. Campus is very big campus and classrooms are very large accommodating nearly 150 to 200 students. There are libraries, labs, seminar hall, auditoriums, and conference halls in our college. There is a canteen. My favorite thing in my college is the garden. There are nice facilities in the class aiding healthy learning.
 

Campus Rating
At Guntur Medical College, College life is average. No, there are no clubs but some of the students are planning about it. Yearly, a fresher’s day, college day, and graduation ceremony are the major events here. In addition, other minor gatherings do occur. CMEs are also conducted.
