Lakshmibai College is Affiliated to Delhi University

My overall experience in Lakshmibai College, New Delhi has been really great. From finding good friends to helpful teachers. My College comes under the University of Delhi so it was one of the reasons for me to choose this. High overall ranking and respect. Since the Colleges of University of Delhi don't exist in isolation but are actually an amalgamation of Colleges, it can give a diverse viewpoint. Campus life is great. Students come here from all over the country and even foreigners so the exposure you get is good. Plus you can get into a lot of different societies that can help in cultivating your personality. What I find different in my College that is not really seen in other DU Colleges is the presence of trees and animals. The College even though small, has a lot of trees and different animals like peacocks making campus life more serene.

I'm currently pursuing B.A. (Hons) History from here and I can say that this College is really great for this subject. I've chosen this course because of my passion for History. I've loved this subject ever since I was a child so I thought pursuing history would be the right course of action. I gave CUET UG for admission, which is compulsory. The marks required for admission are not revealed by the Colleges but you do require more than an average score for getting admission into an honours programme. Exams are held twice a year in 2 semesters. There are no mid-sem examinations but you also get evaluated on the basis of your assignments and tests for your internals. Academics help in preparing you for being ready for difficult examinations. They help you in getting more punctual and provide the base for overcoming difficulties that can be faced in future jobs.

My fee is charged annually around Rs. 13,500/-. It's really low as compared to other Colleges. It consists of all the charges and only examination fee is taken separately. There are concessions available for people belonging to economically weaker categories.

The faculty members are really great. They are very helpful. In my department there are around 16 teachers. They've all either graduated from DU or JNU and have completed their Ph.D. Usually blackboards are used and in specific lectures group discussions and presentations take place. If any issue arises, we can always talk to our TIC (Teacher-in-Charge) without facing any difficulty. In my class, there are around 45 students. Teachers are very approachable. They help in finding out study material and we are also comfortable in sharing our personal problems with them.

There is an active Placement Cell at Lakshmibai College, New Delhi.

The College does not offer residential facilities.

In our College, there are mainly three buildings associated for academics. Apart from that, we have different areas like admin office, healthcare centre, and canteen. What I really like is a specific section called Gokul which has ducks and pond and specific areas full of tree for you to sit. There is a ground and a lawn. Campus size is decent and locality is very peaceful. There are parks around the College. Classrooms of the new building are very big with mic, speakers and a podium. There is a library and an auditorium in construction. Apart from that there are conference hall and lecture theatres.

My campus life is great. The College crowd is genuinely nice. People are easy to approach and are really helpful. There are a lot of different societies and events are conducted on an almost everyday basis. I'm part of the council of History department. Regular events are conducted. Annual fests take place in which stalls are placed and there's DJ night. The events conducted provide students with ample opportunity to display their talents.
