NFSU Gandhinagar Was Formally Known as 'Gujarat Forensic Science University'

Situated in a lush green Campus, NFSU Gandhinagar with its plethora of courses is a hub of knowledge, excellence and creativity. It was previously known as 'Gujarat Forensic Science University' I chose this University because of its unique course merging the fields of Science and Law. Being a part of the Department of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies has allowed me to approach law through a unique lens of Forensic Science & Cyber Studies.

I'm a 2nd year student of the B.Sc LL.B (Hons.), a five year integrated course and one of the 66 different programs provided by NFSU Gandhinagar. To be eligible for this course, the student has to qualify the CLAT exam. The qualification is based on the merit list of the exam score of the admission year and passing the Intermediate / Higher Secondary Board Exam (10+2) in either Science, Commerce or Arts stream along with Mathematics or Statistics subject securing at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and PwD category). Every year is divided into 2 semesters, with a total of 10 semesters in the course. There are two internal exams, one mid-semester exam and an end-of-semester exam. The students have to do one mandatory internship every semester, for which a viva worth credit grades is provided to them.

The semester-wise fee amounts to Rs. 69,000/- in total, including the examination fee and student activity fee. In this, the tuition fee is Rs. 67,000/-, examination fee is Rs. 1500/-, and student activity fee is Rs. 2500/-. The student also has to pay a caution deposit of Rs. 7500/- at the time of admission. Student loans are accepted if students require any financial aid.

The faculty at the Institution is smart and helpful. My experience with them has been very supportive, both academically and in practical education. The teachers are from various backgrounds, ranging from graduates and Ph.D from Universities like NLSIU Bengluru, ILNU Ahemdabad, and NLUD Delhi. The professors have their own unique way of teaching, like using PPTs, white boards, class debates, presentations & group discussions. While the student-to-teacher ratio is fairly functional, the year-on-year growth in the student intake suggests a need for expansion of the faculty.

The Placement Committee here is good, with our Associate Dean as the Faculty Advisor, and since our first batch hasn't passed out yet, there have been no placements as of now. The Institution also has an Internship Assistance Cell (IAC), which helps provide Internships to them. The students are doing relatively well and working as interns with Tier 1 firms and offices. There are several placement-related conclaves and mock interviews conducted as well.

The University does offer residential facilities, where the girls' and boys' hostels are separate. The food served here meets the hygiene standards, and is available four times a day that is Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dinner.

The Institution has beautiful and a student-friendly campus. There are two floors of library located in the training building. All facilities like Lab, Seminar Hall, Auditorium and Conference Hall are available. There is also a cafeteria, a mess, a sports complex and a medical room present here. My favourite part of the University infrastructure is that all the blocks are connected in a networked way, along with our beautiful poolside area.

The environment at this Institution is good. There is an active cultural and co-curricular representation. The crowd is very enthusiastic, and the multiple clubs and committees make the experience much more interesting and fun. Various events occur throughout the semester. There are various clubs around the Department of Law, like Pro Bono Club, and Legal Aid Cell, etc.
