HFCON New Delhi: Personal Opinion About its Facilities & Campus Life

Overall Rating
Overall, my experience at this Holy Family College of Nursing New Delhi is average. The clinical exposure is quite good compared to many others. The College provides postings in different institutions for subjects like OBG and Psychiatry, which helps in gaining better practical knowledge and real-world experience. Along with academics, the College also encourages participation in co-curricular activities & various competitions, giving students some level of overall development.
 

Academics Rating
For the admission criteria, there is an entrance exam that is every yearly. The students’ selection is based on merit list. For the eligibility criteria, the student has to pass 12th Class, which 50% or more in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English separately. For academic, it is overall average.
Fee structure of Holy Family College of Nursing New Delhi keeps changing almost every year. When I joined, the tuition fee was around Rs. 60,000/-, but by my fourth year, it increased to about Rs. 75,000/-. The total course fee for 1st year also went up from Rs. 1,45,000/- to around Rs. 1,75,000/-. So overall, there is a steady rise in fees every year. Fee are usually paid yearly On the good side, the College does provide around 5 to 6 Scholarships like Post Matric Scholarship Scheme (to the SC category students).
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members are quite knowledgeable, and many of them are actually alumni of the same College and some have teaching experience of 8+ years. Their teaching methods mainly include PPTs, group discussions, and demonstrations, which makes learning more interactive. The teacher to student ratio is decent, and there is a good bond between students and faculty as some mentor-menti session are also conducted. The faculty are also helpful when it comes to solving problems and clearing doubts.
 

Placement Rating
Placements in the institution are limited to its parent hospital i.e., Holy Family Hospital. The selection process is conducted through an interview. The average salary package offered is around Rs. 28,000/- per month. While the process is simple, the lack of variety in placement options can be a drawback for students.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel facilities are available and it is a girls’ hostel. In the first year, around 5 to6 students share a room, while in the second year it reduces to about 3 to 4 students per room. Basic facilities like a stitching room, kitchen, and others are available and hygiene is available. Hostel food quality is average. There are quite a lot of rules and strict timings. Out pass is not allowed on weekdays and is only given on Saturdays.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The academic block at the campus are average in size. Classrooms are up to the mark & have smart boards and blackboards for teaching. Facilities like a library, auditorium, and various labs such as Medical, Surgical, OBG, Community, and Nutrition labs are available. There is also an examination hall. For sports, the College conducts a sports month once every year. Transportation facilities are also provided by the College.
 

Campus Rating
My overall college life experience is average. There isn’t any big fest organized, but SNA Fest is conducted every year. The college also holds events like Vandana every couple of months, along with programs for festivals like onam Diwali and Christmas are celebrated .Co-curricular activities do take place, but there are some clubs like eco-activity groups and the Red Cross Society. The overall crowd is decent. The overall appearance of from this college is fair.
