College of Commerce, Arts & Science BCA Review By Rounit Kumar

College of Commerce Arts and Science (COCAS), Kankarbagh, Patna is one of the oldest and prestigious College of Patliputra University (earlier this college was in Magadh University till 2018). It is situated in front of Rajender Nagar Terminal Railway station, it provides various types of Undergraduate and postgraduate courses in both regular and vocational courses, you can also take admission here for higher secondary education (+2) i.e. in 11th and 12th. If you want to enroll in UG courses there is no Entrance held by university for admission (Although after implementing the NEP new education Policy, there may be changing in admission procedure,) in vocational department regular classes are held so if you want to take admission in courses like BBM, BCA, Journalism, mass communication, MCA, MBA, you can go for it. College campus is good parking facility is available for both students and teachers; The plus Point is that the academic session is completed on time. In Undergraduate courses exams are held yearly, Although classes are held regularly in vocational courses you will get sufficient holiday and vacation throughout the year, where as in regular UG courses classes are not regular.

So if you want to enroll in BCA or any vocational course/any UG course the admission is based on merit you have to fill application form from Patliputra University portal, then there is publication of 1st and 2nd merit list simultaneously, then there is spot round also if in certain College seats are vacant, Although in every College there are some people who help in taking admission even if you were not able to fill form online in certain time and they will charge you some money as there fees. The amount varies depending on the College and course. If you want to pursue BCA you Can take admission here as classes are regularly held and faculty is also good. Every year there is exhibition program (STRIDE) held every year in which you can participate by preparing certain projects/models on certain topics. In UG exams are held yearly exam centre are provided in other colleges, practical examination is held in College itself but examiner is from another College.

In BCA department they have good faculty teachers/professors are well trained, all have good teaching experience, teachers are very friendly teachers in honors / core subject are good they used to explain in multiple ways with the help of certain examples they also guide for off campus selection and what to choose as career option.

Yes there is a placement Cell which helds placement drive every year companies like TCS and ICICI Prudential also provides basic training and placement but it is generally for MCA students. For students studying in BCA the rarely get any opportunities, Although faculty teachers will guide till some extend to get off campus placement.

Hostels are not available for boys and girls inside the campus as College campus does not have sufficient space/land for providing accommodation. Although there is Hostel for boys which was recently built by Patliputra University but it is combine Hostel of 2 or more College and is around 2km away from College. It’s better to take private hostels available in adjacent area of College. Although the adjacent area is little expensive, you can prefer to take accommodation in Bazaar Samiti, Near Vaishali Circle.

So, basically BCA department has new building. Situated at the right side just after you enter the College. Classes are well furnished with A/C accommodation and also a smart class is also available. Computer lab is also available. You can access during classes or after attending all the classes a schedule routine is provided for each year student for labs. You can also take your laptops for practical during classes. Classes are well furnished although there is little bit disturbance if you forget to shut windows during classes as there is lots of noise coming from adjacent kankarbagh main road, although if windows are shut then there is no noise. Separate library is also available, wi-fi is also available in college campus but having poor connection speed.

Campus is good, parking facility is available canteen is also available (but is little expensive), you can move around the campus, there is no restriction there is also small play Ground and stage which is generally occupied by NCC cadets as there is NCC Camp in the College you can enroll. Functions are held in Vanijya Sabhagar!!
