My overall experience is good in NMAM Institute of Technology Udupi. It is a prestigious Institute in our area. I chose Biotechnology for my further studies and this is the having this course in our area, people who want to join this course with affordable fees this is the best choice for them.

I actually applied for Computer Science as my first choice in the list of choices. I also applied for Biotechnology course, since my background is Biology. I got good rank in biology sector in entrance exam I got this Biotechnology as my course. During my time, seats were allocated via entrance exams such as KCET, COMEDK, and others. Now since our Institute merged to Nitte University we need to write their entrance exam called ‘NUCAT’, and we should get marks more than 50% then only we will eligible through this exam. Otherwise, we need to join through management quota. Exams are both semester and annual based. They teach us in every aspect to face the real world challenge present in current situation through both Theoretical and practical way of teaching.

During my time, fee was to be deposited in a year, which was approximately Rs. 80,000/- per year. Semester wise I not paid not fees its annual based. Admission & registration fee was also included in program fee. Students can avail some Government Scholarships.

All the faculty members are Ph.D qualified. Usually, they prepare PowerPoint presentations related to subjects prior to the lectures & teach us through the same. They involve us in activities. In our branch, there were approximately 150 students and around 10 faculty members so ratio was 1:15. I had good experience with one teacher because she mentored us during our final year projects, she was polite and very approachable when wanted to clear our doubts.

There is a separate department is available in our campus. Mostly our Campus tied up with many companies for placements, so they frequently visit our campus.

Yes, Institute offers hostel facility for non-day scholar students. Since I not stayed in hostel, I do not know much about hostel systems. Both boys’ and girls’ hostels are in very good condition. North Indian, South Indian, and local food varieties are available in the mess in hygienic conditions.

The campus has different blocks for each department. There is one big auditorium is available beside the academic blocks. This Institute is situated in 50 acres of land. Classrooms are big, spacious with modern facilities. There is dedicated library where we get books related to our departments. Labs are also available with well-trained lab assistants. Departmental seminar hall is also available.

My overall experience was good from date I started my career in this Institute. The Institute environment both inside and outside were very good. Some active clubs are present in our campus. In addition, extracurricular activities are organised by our Institute such as hackathons, cultural activities, etc. Annual fests and sports are celebrating in the months of January and February. Annual fest of NMAM Institute of Technology Udupi is called as ‘Inside’.
