My Opinion Over IGNTU Amarkantak: Teachers, Placement, and Campus Life

Overall Rating
The IGNTU Amarkantak is one of the most affordable Central Universities in India. The campus is in a vast piece of land with more than ten departments and many girls’ and boys’ hostels, including teachers' quarters, which make the University almost, like a residential University. One of the attracting things about the campus is that since the University is in the middle of the nation, your classmates will be from all over India, which gives you exposure to many cultures. Since it is a Tribal University, It is develop in the tribal region to support more tribal students.
 

Academics Rating
To enroll in this course, the basic requirement is to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and attempt the CUET- PG examination, conducted annually by NTA- UGC. The cut-off will vary across universities. Compared to other Universities, its cut-off is low and easily accessible to average students also. Due to the course fee being very low, which make this University is affordable to everyone.
The fee is less than Rs. 10,000/- per year, that too including mess and hostel facilities. Even though the University does not provide any direct scholarships or financial aid, you can always apply for scholarships under the National Scholarship Portal.
 

Faculty Rating
I was enrolled in the M.A Economics batch of 2022-24, in the Department of Economics, where the HoD was Professional Niti Jain, a visionary in Economics, especially in Tribal Economics. There are also several other faculty members teaching Economics. All are well educated and experienced, with Ph.D in Economics. They teach us very well and make you feel like the topics are very easy by using advanced teaching methods and interactive sessions. The problem-solving abilities of the professors are top-notch. The intake is under 20 students, so the teaching-to-student ratio is also very high.
 

Placement Rating
There is a Placement Cell, but it is mainly for the students of professional courses.
 

Hostel Rating
To ensure the accommodation of each student, the University has many hostels separately for boys, girls, and Ph.D scholars. There are staff quarters for the faculty and other staffs. The mess is available in each hostel including 3 meals a day. Hostel fees are around Rs. 3000/- a year, which we have to pay by the start of each year. There is curfew timing for girl’s hostel. The hostel rooms are neat and clean. You have to maintain them and keep them like home.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is situated in a vast area. There are more than 10 departments in each we need to reach there by walking or using vehicles. Since it is situated in a vast area and there is distance between each department, it is good to have a cycle or any other vehicles in case of emergency, the classrooms are convertible as faculty cabins simultaneously. Apart from that, there are halls we can use for programs and mass gatherings, which is massive and well arranged with required equipments. One of the most attracting things about the University is its massive library. In addition, there are a few canteens that serve quality food.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Amarkantak was fantastic, However, due to COVID-19 and lockdown I got could only one year to spend their. Even though the experience I got from there was short, University is filled with students from all over the country, so most probably your classmates will not be from same state as yours. You can see many cultures and there are programs celebrate each culture. There are some clubs but unfortunately, I was not part of any. There is also NSS, and other extracurricular activities taking place in the campus, which are fun and entertaining at the same time.

    Overall the University is good. I want to give this University the title of the cheapest university of India because of its affordable nature. This University is located beneath the Amarkantak hill station with very cold weather and peaceful environment. But it lacks proper facilities such as good city exposure.     Talking about the overall review, the faculties were a mix of average and below average, infrastructure was best, weather of the area was best because of hilly climate. Sports and libraries were of top quality. I chose to take admission here because it is one among the two central universities of Madhya Pradesh, besides Dr. Hari Singh Kaur Sagar University....
