MJRP University Jaipur has 2 Campuses Which are Situated at Achrol & Sodala

The Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phoole University Jaipur is overall a decent University for students who wish to pursue their higher education while staying in their hometown, i.e., Jaipur. My department is well-supported by the faculty and management personnel. The University conducts various events catering to the entertainment needs of the students, such as fashion shows, dance competitions, inter-University competitions, annual fests, etc. My overall experience at the University was quite great in terms of academics and co-curricular activities.

I pursued an M.A in Journalism and Mass Communication, which was offered by the Media and Journalism Department of the University. Since I had my Bachelor's in the same field, this felt like a good choice to enhance my educational background. The eligibility requirements were really basic, which included a Bachelor's degree in the same field. Fortunately, there is no requirement for students to appear in any entrance exam to get enrolled in the course. The admission process was also quite short and simple. All I had to do was fill out the form, pay the fee, and get my receipt. I can say that it was pretty smooth. However, the process of filling out the examination form is quite complicated and tiring in itself. The exams are conducted twice a year, following the semester system. hence, I had to go through the exhausting process twice a year to sit for my exams. The exams, in contrast to the examination process, are less of a pain. The course curriculum is well planned as per the current industry requirements and has prepared me for real-life challenges. The University conducted field visits, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, etc., which provided me with great in-depth knowledge about the subject matter.

The faculty members in my department at the University are well-qualified and experienced in the domain. They have graduated from some of the eminent Institutions. The HoD has worked in the media industry, along with prominent news agencies, for over 20 years before taking up the role at the University. He has immense knowledge and expertise in the fundamentals of media. The teaching approach of all the professors is both theoretical and practical based, assisted by real-world examples, case studies, etc. The faculty was really supportive and encouraging towards me and boosted my spirits to dive deeper into the domain and fined a suitable career choice for myself.

Certain departments invite industry recruiters for Internships and training purposes. My department invited several radio stations, news channels, and newspaper houses to aid students secure excellent Internship opportunities. All this is taken care of by the HoD. Apart from this, there are no specific placement opportunities provided by the University.

The University offers hostel facilities. The girls' hostel is present in the campus itself. Along with the hostel, there is a mess and a cafeteria accessible to the hostellers. I did not personally stay in the hostel. It provides access to all the basic facilities.

The MJRP University has 2 campuses, which main campus in Achrol, and another in Sodala, Jaipur. The Achrol campus is located on the outskirts of Jaipur. It is equipped with spacious lawns, fields, classrooms, auditoriums, laboratories, sports grounds, etc. The Sodala campus does not expand as much as the Achrol campus, but provides all the essential amenities. The Media department is situated on the Sodala campus. The campus includes different buildings for different departments. The University has libraries with a huge collection of books catering to the academic needs of the students. There are also dedicated laboratories for each department which are well-equipped with the required equipment. The media department also has a dedicated studio for recording and broadcasting purposes. There is also a cafeteria on-campus. The classrooms are decent and well-kept. The campus also offers several lecture halls dedicated for guest lectures, workshops, and seminars. There is a foyer area for cultural activities such as fests, dance competitions, live shows. etc. The washrooms are a huge concern. They are not well-kept and not easily accessible. It is the only drawback in terms of infrastructure.

My overall campus life was satisfactory. I did participate in several cultural activities, engaged with the guest lectures, participated in workshops, along with my academic pursuit. My classmates were also very lively and engaging, adding to my vibrant University experience. The best part of my experience were the frequent guest lecturers that helped me boost my intellect and learn more about the diverse forms of media from subject experts. However, the management of the University needs some improvement in terms of dealing with the students' needs.
