Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management Mumbai was Started in 2003

The College was established in 2003. Overall, the experience in my College has been very good. The College is a good place for the Management students as it follows practical approach for teaching, provides various projects, and conducts industrial visits that help the us to learn not only academically but also practically. There are many things happening in the campus such as cultural fests and business events, and ‘BMEST’, which is College’s main Management fest. The friendly atmosphere here and the location in Vile Parle makes much more incredible.

Following are some of the key aspects about my College i.e., Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management Mumbai:
• Excellent education to the BMS students of the College via classrooms teaching, project work, practical sessions & industrial visits.
• The College has experienced and highly skilled faculty members who teach topics by incorporating practical examples in an easy and understandable language. They also help students in case they have doubts & queries.
• Placement Cell of the College organises hiring drives, career counselling sessions, and corporate interactions for the students. It is connected with MNCs like TCS, Wipro, Morgan Stanley, and many more.
• Campus is clean and has amenities like ICT enabled classrooms with AC & Wi-Fi, 2-floored library, indoor & outdoor sports amenities, etc. Students also have an access to canteen that is shared with other Institutions.
• Students enjoy their campus life by taking part in numerous activities. The College organises many events including ‘BMEST’, a Management fest.

The course chosen by me is BMS with specialisation in Finance, because finance is an emerging and relevant area with many opportunities in banks and corporate. The selection process here depends upon your 12th scores and marks of an entrance test. The course is in accordance with the curriculum of Mumbai University with semester end examinations as well as internals and projects conducted during the semester period. The academic teaching methodology involves the concept explanation in simple terms and application of the same in practical projects and tests.

Currently, my fee is about Rs. 90,000/- per year, which includes tuition and other charges. Recently, there has been a change in the fee structure, the new fee for the new B.Com (Management Studies) program comes out to be Rs. 1,50,000/- per year. There aren’t any special discounts that I know of, but financial help or scholarships are available for economically backward students.

The faculty of my department at Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management Mumbai has knowledge and experience in their respective subject areas. The professors are friendly and communicative. So, it becomes convenient for us to raise our queries and get the doubts cleared. The method of teaching comprises PPTs, classroom discussion, practical activities, projects, and explanations wherever necessary. The faculty usually explains topics using simple language and in terms of practical examples, making difficult topics easy to comprehend. The teachers also help the us when we have any kind of academic problem. The number of students in the batch is approximately 120, distributed in two sections.

We have a dedicated Placement Cell that assists us in gaining placements, recruitment drives, and career counselling. Placement drives may involve company presentations, recruitment procedures, and interaction with professionals in the industry. Some of the renowned organisations involved in the recruitment process are Morgan Stanley, TCS, and Wipro. There are also opportunities for internships for helping students gain working experience. As I am enrolled in the course right now, I have not yet gone through the actual placement process.

The College does not offer any hostel facility. However, there are a number of private hostels as well as options of accommodation near the campus with a variety of choices for different budgets. Accommodation can be opted according to the student’s choice and budget. Thus, the room charges, food, timings, rules, and other related issues will vary from one hostel to another.

Classrooms at Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management Mumbai are very clean, modern, and well maintained having AC, fans, lighting system, smart boards, Wi-Fi & speakers. The two-floored library is very air-conditioned, quite, and provides comfortable seating along with books & magazines of various streams. The computer labs have proper lighting & AC facility with functional computers. The main canteen is shared SVKM campus facilities, which includes Mithibai College. It provides tasty and affordable food. There are various sports facilities for indoor and outdoor games.

Campus life at the College is exceptional. The crowd at the campus is very friendly, cool, and diverse, which makes it easier for interactions with students of different states. There are many student cells, including those related to events, entrepreneurship, finance, culture & others, thus giving us a chance to participate in different activities actively. There are numerous extracurricular activities organised by our College on an annual basis. As I have mentioned earlier, one of the most significant events is ‘BMEST’, which is the main Management fest at the College.
