Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center situated at Nallurahalli, Whitefield, Bangalore is not only known for the academic excellence but also for its hospital which provides decent health care for public at very low costs. This college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is a recognized by the Medical Council of India. Admission to Vydehi is based on rankings obtained at NEET conducted every year. Seats are assigned to eligible candidates based on their merits. Seats are also distributed to NRI, OCI, and linguistic minority students. The college aims to produce good quality doctors and bring exposure to teaching with experienced staff. Dr. G. Prabhakar, principal of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences has been putting in efforts for the management of the college and to provide the best for its students.

The director of Vydehi Institute, Mrs. Kalpaja D A, daughter of the late founder Dr. Audikeshavulu has been striving to offer students a purposeful learning. Vydehi is definitely a place where one can seek help and support from scholars and educated professionals. Our college has a great infrastructure and a very supportive faculty. Numerous conferences are conducted in the college campus for interactions of students faculty and the management.

In the year 2017, I joined Vydehi Institute as a 1st year MBBS student after clearing NEET. As all India level exam, NEET, has become the only valid exam to enter any medical college, getting an eligible score in the exam is of at most importance. After receiving state ranks and undergoing counseling at KCET colleges are assigned based on the rank secured. Medical was always my field of interest. This passion motivated me to take up PCMB in my PU and attend coaching classes for entrance exams throughout 2 years.

Medical education is entirely different for what it looks on the outside. It is definitely not a cake walk and needs a lot of dedication to achieve the standards the course requires. But every small step taken towards it now will definitely take you to great heights and honors in later years of life. The knowledge and experience gained at Vydehi will definitely help to reach greater heights and goals in life. A great doctor is not made overnight. It is a slow and long process and requires a lot of dedication and involvement. Practice and passion towards the profession is required to excel in this field.

Many faculties work for various branches in the hospital and the college. Highly experienced Doctors work to provide good health facilities as well as to train and educate future doctors of the society. The management, technical and administration departments also serve their purpose diligently. The hospital contains 1600 beds where patients are in the good care of doctors. Each department has enough working members to provide adequate attention to 250 students present I each batch. A full-time highly experienced faculty headed by HOD and containing Professors, Assistant Professors, Lectures, post graduate students and interns are present to guide students throughout the course. Faculty also includes IT department, Helpers and Transport department.

The college provides with transport facility for its students and faculty to travel to work every day from all around the city. Day scholars can travel to college by college buses. The teachers are all friendly and help the student in any kind of academic needs. Doctors who handle clinical subjects not only work at the hospital and treat patients but also teach and introduce clinical methods to young medicos. This clinical exposure is of great importance for future doctors. The doctors working at Vydehi have completed MBBS, post graduation and Specialties in specific fields from various dignified universities.

After 4.5 years of MBBS a full year of internship is a must in any medical college. Vydehi also has all the students who finish final year interning in the Vydehi hospital for a year. After this, students write another entrance exam for continuing their education with post-graduation. Many students who have studied in Vydehi are presently studying and working in best universities in India and also in foreign countries. Internship program is a compulsory one-year clinical exposure for medical students who have completed 4.5 years of medical education.

Stipends are provided and a good exposure to clinical cases is the main aim for that year. After this, students who wish to continue with higher education apply to postgraduate entrance exams and prepare for them. PG NEET is an all-India unified entrance exam to enter any medical university. Along with this, students who wish to study in foreign countries can apply for the respective exams. USMLE is an entrance to medical universities in the US, PLAB is the entrance exam for the European countries and MCCEE for Canadian universities. Students have to undergo intense preparations to crack any of these exams. Harder one works, better is the score and the rank they obtain to secure the field and specialty they desire to excel in.

As Vydehi has many students coming from all over the country to study, hostel facilities are provided close to the college campus. Separate hostel facilities for girls and boys are provided. Hostel fees may vary each year. Food and security are decent and good care is taken. Hostels have independent libraries for girls and boys in the respective buildings. Each room accommodates 3 students sharing. A 24-hour security ensures safety of the students. Power and water supply with solar heating for hot water is provided. Each room is provided with a bed, a study table, a chair and a cupboard for every student. Hygienic and quality dining is provided to all students. Hostel has common TV room and a common reading room as well.

NRI students can get single rooms. Intake capacity is 961 UG students, 458 interns and PGs. The buildings are at very close proximity to the college and the hospital buildings. Wardens for hostels are present to take care of concerns of the students and grant permissions to leave the hostels on prior permissions. Students can feel home and comfortably stay and complete their education in this warm environment. Hostel fee will include accommodation and food for one complete academic year.

With a very big campus, Vydehi has all facilities such as classrooms as big as 600 students capacity rooms, well equipped laboratories, a stocked library for students use and a spacious auditorium. Vindoos is the cafeteria present in the campus and serves good food for the students and faculty. There is an auditorium with centralized air conditioning of 1500 capacity. Three examination halls of 350 capacity each are present.

Online attendance facility is present to monitor student's attendance and keep a track of classes attended. This is done through Biometric and Facial recognition for students and staff. Lecture classes have adequate seating facilities and slide projectors to conduct classes efficiently. The college central library can accommodate about 900 students at a time. It provides wide range of books and databases. College also has separate lounge for girls and boys. There is a separate study room for girls and boys where students can study from own books.

Vydehi is a college oriented more toward academics. Events such as blood donation camps, competitions for health awareness, medical camps, etc. are conducted frequently. Interaction with delegates from other institutes and educative session are held. Vydehi also has a medical museum with carefully curetted specimens, information and 3D visuals. Great information can be gathered on all subjects such as anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, radiology, forensics and community medicine. There are over 3432 specimens and samples to view and learn from.

Kannamangala is a village which has been taken care by Vydehi Institute. Many medical camps are held to provide general checkups and health care to families residing there. A number of events for World health day, World cancer day, World mental health day and so on are conducted. A basketball team including students from all years, interns and post graduates plays at numerous fests conducted in other medical colleges. Students can take part in various medicine related programs which helps them to build a greater communication with the others working in the same field. Every year Ethnic day is held and students get to dress and fill the campus with colors and ethnicity. Informative seminars and talk shows on informative subjects are organised on regular basis.
