Dayanand Brijendra Swarup College well - known as DBS (PG) College. It is a well-recognized institute under HNBGU, a central university. It is located in a prime location i.e., Karanpur, Dehradun. The College is NAAC accredited. The admission is based on Merit in under graduation. The cut-offs are high with a cut- throat competition. No one with 80% with any other certificates or reservation gets admission in DBS (PG) College that too in Bachelors in sciences with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as their prime subjects.

The biology, arts, and commerce get relatively lower cut-offs; hence the admission is easier. Getting admission even in the Masters is a tough deal to crack. You have to be a top score to get into college. The competition is thought because the number of seats is relatively really low i.e., 20-25 for Masters in Chemistry and Physics. Rest the procedure is simple. The representatives of various political parties help you in every process. Even the staff is very co-operative. The bank is also there in the college that helps in the fee payment. The admission committee is the college teaching staff that makes the process so smooth that you won’t feel any difficulty there. The college fee is minimal around two thousand for a year with no dress code compulsory.

I joined Bachelors in Sciences with Physics, chemistry, and math as the prime subjects. The eligibility criteria to get into the college is to have at least 45% of marks in 12th. The merit is made based upon the main subjects i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Maths. Although I had really good marks on the 12th board my name came on a waiting list. I joined the college because it is one of the best colleges in the city and is affiliated with the central university.

It is one of the few colleges in the city apart from the private colleges where the classes are regular and each student is taken great care of. Apart from this, the college is located very near to my house. The college is also surrounded by coaching institutes that add value to the selection of the college. There is no honors program that I wanted to enroll in. But the pass course i.e., studying three subjects for the three years was not a bad experience. This course will help your skill up for future job opportunities like government jobs and masters. There is hardly any scope of placement after this directly. But you never know when you land up having one.

There are 5 teaching faculties at least for each subject. So, the total number of faculties is around 20. The overall faculties including teaching and non-teaching staff are almost 60. The teachers here are well educated and experienced. Most of them are Ph.D. holders with a research background. Several of them have taken their education from the best universities in the country like IITs. Almost everyone is a research scholar and the best in their fields. All the teaching staff has the best knowledge of their fields to guide the students well except the few.

There is a placement cell in the college that does not play an important role in the placements. There are webinars and workshops conducted by them inside as well as outside the college. Hardly any company visits our college. When I was in my first year, I heard about a company visiting the campus. No student got placed from our college. D.B.S. PG College is just known for its academics because there are no job-oriented courses taught here. But you can just check the website for the alumni.

There is no hostel facility provided by the college. The students can easily find rooms or PGs near the college because of its location. The facilities are good because of the availability of the market near the residence. The rooms available are as per your requirements.

There are also food delivery services to ease your life there. The prices are negotiable as per your capacity and needs. There are strict timings for entry and exit because you will be living with the families and can get flexible after the understandings.

DBS PG College has a sufficiently large campus to accommodate the strength of the college. The building is really old but certain segments have been recently reconstructed. The college campus consists of a large ground with a basketball and a badminton court. This is the place of attraction for the sports man. Regular sports events are also organized by the college. The college has well-equipped laboratories, a sports room, and a library. It has a sufficiently large auditorium to organize the workshops and seminars.

The classrooms are very well spacious and well designed. It also has a canteen with is more like a resting area for the students. It does not have that long menu but is economical. There is a reading room in the college that is a place where students can hang out, complete their assignments, or just study. It has a large seating area with newspapers and books. This is the best place in the college. There is a medical room available inside the college for first aid. For say emergencies, there are lots of clinics and hospitals within the walking range. There is no problem for any sort of emergency.

Campus life went amazing. I will always miss the college mates and the helpful teachers here. I developed a family-like relation with everyone. There are various clubs and activities in the college like NCC, NSS, Cultural Club, Sports Committee, etc. The NCC is the heart of the college. The first view of the college is seeing cadets practicing. This is a very mesmerizing view. Every day there is flag hoisting and the national anthem conducted by NCC cadets. There are both males as well as female cadets. NSS is the other group where students participate and get certificates. This is responsible to conduct camps and organize events. Students get points for participation which is later beneficial while getting admission in the course or seeking a job.

Elections are celebrated as a festival in the college. The students are encouraged to participate in the elections. Even the cultural week is celebrated with full enthusiasm. The artists are invited to the programs. There is an arrangement of snacks, dance, music, games done by the management committee. My college life is memorable in all terms. It does have flaws like each college have.
