JEPPIAAR SRR Engineering college B.Tech Review By Mohammed Mansoor

SRR Engineering College is one among the Jeppiaar Group of Educational Institutions offering Bachelor and Master degree in Engineering. It is affiliated to Anna University. The admission process is quite straight-forward. After counseling from Anna University, one needs to visit the college with all required documents and fill in the form provided by them. The college management will be strict for some issues like, ragging, and teasing girls. College bus will be on time and most importantly, they won’t wait for even a minute. It almost reaches every destination, but during any special exams, it might drop in you in your nearest location.

I have joined Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2014 through Anna University counseling. The eligibility for joining this college is 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects.

Professors and lecturers are the one which I cannot be sure as I am unable to comment on other department teachers. As of my department, we got one of the best, friendly, caring and supportive teachers. As the EEE department has a very few number of students, HOD and other staffs will completely understand our strength, weakness and help us get through them. You can ask for doubts and clarification anytime and they are ready to make sure that you understand well.

Our management provided pre-placement training which was very helpful. We usually had combined placement with Jeppiaar Engineering college. The highest package offered was Rs. 5-6 lakh/annum by Odessa. The companies visiting the campus will almost be of IT industry. Capgemini, Odessa, Mindtree, Wipro are some of the regular companies visiting our campus.

We have separate hostels for boys and girls with very strict rules. You cannot leave the hostel without permission from the warden. In case of emergency, you need your parent to call and inform to get gate pass.

One thing that I like very much about my college is its infrastructure from inside. Classrooms, labs, workshops are all well-equipped and maintained decently. Library is filled with all useful books that you need in your academics and have institutional access to the IEEE and other educational websites for students. We have bigger playgrounds, especially for volley ball and basket ball. For first aid, we have a medical center, but for some serious issues, we take students to Sathyabama University.

As many of you have heard, inside the campus of Jeppiaar Institutions, boys and girls are not allowed to mingle even in symposium and cultural. At my time in the college, we were not supposed to carry our mobile phones and other gadgets. Students must only wear formals and should be neatly shaved. Muslim students have the excuse to have beard and also allowed for Friday prayers providing them with bus facility. We have sports day and selections for different sports, but if you are a hosteller, you can easily get more practices as the hostel is inside the campus. As of cultural, it will be really fun, but not well organized. We also have hostel day, but I cannot comment on that as I was a day-scholar.
