DAV College BCA Review By Harman

As a BCA, graduate I think so college is pretty decent. College is one of the renowned colleges in the Amritsar or probably the best college in Amritsar. It’s a t2/r3 college do don't expect t1 level of campus. Pretty decent campus not so big not so small. Talking about their infrastructure, most of the class has the old school infrastructure but they are building up new classes with newer level of infrastructure and technology. Also, revamping some of the old classes as well with new infrastructure. Similar to other colleges, DAV has 4-5 computer labs out of which 2-3 labs have high internet connection and also good specs while remaining labs do not have internet connection and also some are still running window 7 pretty outdated. College campus does not have playing area like cricket and other sports ground. But a location 2-3 km from college named as DAV Complex is there where you can go, show your college id card and play with or without your friends. College do not have a good canteen but there are pretty much options to eat near college.

Almost every course is available in the college including BCA, MCA, B.Voc, B.Com, BBA, BA, B.Multi and much more. Eligibility for most of these courses is 60% in previous related education. College also provides scholarships for the students who got a particular percentage of marks, and you can also get scholarship if you top the university.

Faculty is decent I would say. This is the area where college actually needs to work. Some teachers are really good in their expertise while some are worst. Some teachers which were teaching me weren't able to solve some programs without books and also there is a rule for the 75 % attendance in the college in order to be eligible for the exams.

Placements are also where the college lacks. In my last year only 8-9 companies came all service based. Luckily, I got placed but the packages offered were very low, the maximum was 3.5 LPA.

Even though I didn't go for hostel, but I had some friend from hostels. The hostels were ok. You can share room with one guy or else singly bedroom are quite expensive and also aren't available for most of the time. You can also opt for Tiffin which delivers pretty good food.
