Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University was established in 1995 by the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Engineering and Technology. It was later changed to Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur and then again changed to Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University. It aims to be identified for professional studies catering to the needs of society and industry. The University is committed towards the holistic development of the students, develop technically competent individuals imbibed with theoretical, managerial, and analytical skills, and impart ethical values amongst the students. It is a State University approved by UGC and AICTE.

SBSSU has a Training and Placement Office (TPO) which helps students with campus placements and arranges industrial training programs. It also guides and monitors the program and takes feedback regarding the performance of the students.
