Shanmugha Arts Science Technology & Research Academy, commonly known as SASTRA University, Thanjavur started operations in 1984. In 2001, it received the status of Deemed-to-be-University. The University is approved by UGC & AICTE, and recognised by BCI and as a Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation by the Government of India. It is accredited by NAAC and ranked by NIRF.

The Department of Training & Placement at SASTRA University offers professional training and mentorship to the students to meet their personality development requirements. The Department helps students in their self-assessment and identifying a suitable career that can fulfil professional objectives.
