University of Law College Bangalore is one of the oldest and paramount law colleges of India as well as Asia. With its legacy dating back to the early 1948, it was established by the Mysore Government. The Karnataka government reinstated the institution under the act National Law School of India University act Karnataka Act 22 OF 1986.
In 1982 V.B. Coutinho took the command of the college and started a ground breaking 5 year integrated course B.A., LL.B. program. In 2010 as per guidelines given by the bar council of India, the 5 years integrated course was changed to an honors degree. The college offers a 5 year UG program and 2 year PG program with a total strength of 360 students.
University of Law College is ranked at 14thamong the India’s best colleges in 2017 and 28thamong the top law colleges of India in 2017 by the Times magazine. The college is one of the oldest with alumni being bureaucrats and cabinet ministers.
A library with outstanding material related to the subjects with research papers and a great collection of the best sellers makes it the main attraction of the campus. The library has a large collection of journals, research paper, and documents related to the national and international laws. It has a collection of more than 40,000 books, 16,000-research papers, and 18,000 other documents. Adapting with the changing times, the library is equipped with computers and internet connectivity to help students and teachers with their research.
