Presidency University Kolkata Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules

The Presidency University, Kolkata provides accommodation facilities for both male and female students separately. The hostels are equipped with necessary amenities to provide a suitable and homely environment to the students.

In the girls’ hostel of Presidency University Kolkata, the rooms are available in different occupancies including single, 2-seaters, and 4-seaters. The government Eden Hindu Hostel (for boys) can accommodate more than 150 students. Whereas, the Presidency University girls’ hostel has an accommodation capacity of around 200 students.

The Presidency University Kolkata hostel fee varies for the students as per their program level i.e., UG / PG, Ph.D. Moreover, the hostel provides some relaxation in the fees of seat rent for the financially challenged students who are enrolled in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

* The annual room rent is Rs. 1800/- (according to Rs. 150/- per month) for the under privileged students enrolled in UG / PG courses. Moreover, the above-mentioned seat rent is given on the basis of monthly charges i.e., Rs. 200/- (for UG / PG students) and Rs. 300/- (for research scholars).

• The hostellers cannot keep electronic appliances such as heater, induction, iron, etc. in their room. If such items are obtained from the rooms, the responsible student needs to pay the requisite fine amount.
• Several activities are prohibited for the hostellers such as consumption of alcoholic drinks & drugs, gambling, using abusive language, etc.
• If any hosteller is going outside the University’s campus, they have to sign the register with the contact details of the visiting place.
• The hostel residents should maintain silence within the premises and they are not allowed to make any loud or unnecessary noises.
• The hosteller should switch off the electrical appliances (fans and lights), lock the doors and submit the keys of their hostel rooms to the security personnel before going anywhere outside.
• The visitors including parents / guardians are allowed inside the hostels only after showing their photo ID card and registering in the visitors book; students can meet the visitors only during the visiting hours which are 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• The students are not allowed to indulge in any interdisciplinary activities or ragging. Strict actions will be taken by the respective authorities in occurrence of such events.
• The students indulged in any full time / part time job are not allowed to get admission in the hostels.

The Presidency University provides various hostel facilities to offer a home-like atmosphere to the hostellers. Apart from furnished rooms to provide comfortable stay, a mess is available in the hostel premises to make 3-time meals available for the hostellers.

Moreover, there is a kitchen and dining hall in the girls’ hostel with a seating capacity of more than 40 students. Furthermore, there is a vending machine in the female hostel to provide sanitary napkins.

To maintain the safety and security of the students, the hostels within the Presidency University Kolkata Campus are equipped with CCTV cameras. Also, at the hostels, sports and cultural events are organised for the overall mental and physical well-being of the hostellers.
