IISER Berhampur

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Berhampur, is a research and education institute in Odisha. The ministry of the human resources department establishes the institute. This research institute's main focus is to promote the idea of scientific learning and research among their students. Courses like humanities and error analysis help students grow their communication skills along with problem-solving. The institute started functioning with its first batch's arrival during the academic year of 2016-17. Being one of India's top-tier premium colleges, the administration mainly focuses on providing quality education and broad exposure to the students. IISER provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate levels of education and has recently started the i-PhD program. The college has three different programs, which go by the name of BS-MS dual degree, Ph.D., and Integrated-PhD. After completing their 12th boards, students can join the dual degree course by appearing for the entrance exam. During the first two years of the program, students are taught various core courses, and in the third year, they have to opt for a major course. When I took admission in the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Berhampur, I saw it taking its baby steps towards becoming one of the premier institutes to indulge in good quality research and inculcating the scientific temperament among students. IISER Berhampur like any other IISER offers admission through the KVPY channel, IIT Advanced examination, NEET as well as through its own entrance exam named as IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). Having cracked the KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) exam, one of the most difficult scholarship exams serving as an entrance exam in any Indian science institute, I got my admission to this scientific institute. It does face its own hardships, being a new institution, established in 2016 and having to operate from a transit campus. However, it provides an amazing college life to its students, both in academics and non-academics, coming from all parts of the country. A pan Indian institute like this celebrates various festivals of the country and enables its students to enjoy good facilities in terms of games, the gym, cafeteria computer lab, medical center, etc. The variety of courses offered here makes it easier for a student to pursue a career of their choice in a more flexible manner.

This is one of those places where you grow as a person and can gain efficiency in a specific stream as well as explore interdisciplinary fields that you like. What more to go? We also have the annual Inter-IISER Cultural Meet (IICM) and Inter-IISER Sports Meet (IISM). It is where the IISERs all over India come together and compete in various cultural and sports events. This is what I and everyone else wait for all year round.
