Roorkee Institute of Technology (RIT), Roorkee has a beautifully designed infrastructure which facilitates students with a conducive learning environment. Additionally, the campus of the Institute have several blocks in its academic wing including ‘A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Block’, ‘C.V. Raman Block’, and ‘Aryabhatta Block’.
RIT Roorkee is spread across an area of over 30 acres and has an accessible premise for the differently-able as amenities such as walkers, wheelchairs, lifts, ramps, hand rails, etc. are available within the same. Moreover, the facilities through which students are able to live conveniently at the RIT Roorkee campus are spacious classrooms, laboratories, library, sports, hostels, etc.
The Institute has 40+ classrooms and about 8 tutorial rooms from which majority of them are equipped with LCD projectors, high-speed internet, touch-panel, and smart boards to facilitate students with interactive lectures.
Moreover, the RIT Roorkee campus has an auditorium which can seat about 210 students and contains silver screen, cinema projector, multimedia systems, and video conferencing rooms with A-view software. These equipments aid in easy conduction of large-scale events which require extensive use of technology.
Apart from this, multiple seminar halls are available at the premises of the Institute which serves as a platform to conduct webinars, conferences, discussions, etc. Furthermore, about 2 drawing halls with the capacity to accommodate 60 and 40 students is present at the campus for enabling students to sketch and make a layout of their technical projects.
The other facilities at the RIT Roorkee campus are listed below:
- Library: At the Institute’s campus, the library is spread across an area of about 633 square meters. Moreover, about 150 students can be accommodated within the reading area of the library. Additionally, the collection which is available for students to access a wide range of information at the library includes about 5600 titles, around 29,385 volumes, 100+ National journals, etc.
Along with this, about 350 e-book titles, 3210+ e-book volumes, a number of databases are included within the digital library as electronic resources. In addition to this, reprographic services, laptop workstation, newspaper clippings, etc. are facilitated to the students at the library of the Institute.
- Laboratories: The RIT Roorkee campus has about 2 computer centres from which one has a seating capacity of 90 students and another can accommodate about 50 students. Moreover, there are multiple computer labs which have 330+ updated systems with adequate software. Furthermore, the Institute has 30+ laboratories in several of its departments including Engineering, Applied Sciences, etc. to aid students conduct practical experiments.
The laboratories such as Power Electronics lab, Electric Drive & Power System lab, Control System & Nas Lab, Geotechnical Engineering lab, Language lab, etc. are the ones which are available in different departments of the Institute.
- Sports: Students are encouraged to play sports at State & National level at the Institute and they are facilitated with top-notch sports amenities for the same. Moreover, there is a 4 acre sports playground dedicated for outdoor games. Along with the same, the Institute has a Volleyball Court, Tennis Court, Basketball Court, Football Court, Cricket Ground, Badminton Court, etc.
In addition to this, amenities for indoor games including Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, and Snooker are facilitated to the students within the premises of the Institute.
- Hostel: Male and female students can access accommodation facilities within the campus of the Institute along with top-notch amenities in the ‘Bhagirathi Bhawan’ & ‘Nanda Devi Bhawan’, respectively. In addition to the same, there are 250+ AC & Non-AC rooms at the RIT Roorkee Hostels which are available in 2, 3, and 4 sharing.
Along with this, the hostels have mess which serves students delicious meals at the prescribed timings, there is a facility to offer students round-the-clock security, and hostellers can access internet, gym, medical, and other amenities.
- Cafeteria: The Institute’s campus has a canteen / cafeteria which contain a number of snacks and food items from diverse range of cuisines. Students can avail the food facility along with hot and cold beverages from this place.
- Transportation: Students are facilitated with safe and secure transport amenities so as to assist them reach their destination without any problems.
- Healthcare Facility: The Institute provides students adequate healthcare services through a qualified medical professional at the campus. Furthermore, 24/7 ambulance services are offered to the students given they are in the need of prompt travel to the nearby hospital for personalised treatment.
- Gymnasium: The Institute emphasises on improving students’ physical wellbeing by facilitating them with a fully-equipped gymnasium.
- Banking: An ATM of ‘Punjab National Bank’ is available within the Institute’s campus.
