Scottish Church College [SCC], Kolkata West Bengal was established in the year 1830 as Private Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Management, Humanities and Science. SCC is accredited by NAAC-A, and is affiliated with University of Calcutta, Kolkata. Management of SCC Kolkata is working under Dr. Arpita Mukerji (Principal).
Motivating and empowering the students to become morally, socially, and intellectually upright since 1830, the Scottish Church College was founded by the first missionary of the Church of Scotland, Alexander Duff. The college is situated in the city of joy to provide academic excellence and increase social awareness among the students.
The college is given the status of ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ by the UGC and feels proud as it has educated some renowned alumni like Swami Vivekanand and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the past. Currently, it is owned by the Church of North India (CNI), affiliated with the University of Calcutta, and Re-accredited by NAAC. The college has achieved autonomous status for its Post Graduate department.
Scottish Church College offers Sixteen Undergraduate courses (Honours), Two Post-Graduate courses, and a B.Ed course for women students provided by the Department of Teacher Education. The UG and PG courses provided by the college along with the subjects under them are mentioned below:
First, let’s go through the criteria necessary for admission to the college:
Arts- B.A. (Honours)
HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination in respective streams with compulsory subjects.
Passing marks in the English subject (The paper should be of 100 marks).
*The provisional list will be decided after checking the index marks of students. If there is a tie in Index marks, then the subject marks will be considered and if there is still a tie, English Marks will be considered.
Science- B.Sc. (Honours)
Business Administration- B.B.A.
Teacher Education- B.Ed.
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Science, Social Science, Mathematics, Humanities/ Engineering Technology, etc.
A fresher can be 40 years or less to be eligible to apply. There is no such rule for a deputed teacher.
50% in qualifying Honours examination (40% for Christians)
For M.Sc. (Chemistry) candidates Maths should be a general subject in B.Sc.

The provisional list is uploaded on the official website and the selected candidates are informed via SMS/E-mail. The students should reach the college on the given date and bring a photocopy of all the given documents for verification:
The students who show progress in academics get various scholarships in the form of fee concessions and waivers. They can enjoy the benefit of one scholarship/ concession at a time unless they have been awarded a Govt. Loan Scholarship or First and Second-grade Scholarship. Numerous stipends are available for poor students from the Henry Stephen fund and merit-cum-means based scholarships are given to SC/ST students by UGC. The Christian students are provided Scholarships in the form of cash prizes.
Meritorious students are helped with a full-free studentship/ half-free studentship, and quarter-free studentship which can be in form of a fee concession. The table shows a list of other Scholarships:
