My POV of SCC Kolkata: Teachers, Facilities, and Clubs

Overall Rating
The Scottish Church College Kolkata is one of the oldest and most reputed Colleges in Eastern India. The campus of this College is relatively small in size. The College offers a wide range of courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce. It promotes students’ participation in academic and cultural activities through various clubs such as Drama, Music, and Literary & Photography. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta.
 

Academics Rating
For admission in the course opted by me, students need to have passed Class 12th with requisite marks. UG courses offered by the College are of 8 semesters. The exit options after 2nd, 4th and 6th semester is provided. The College is well recognized and has good reputation in academic field.
Fee structure varies from subject to subject. For Science subject, the fee is Rs. 20,000/-. After that semester, fees range from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/-, depending on the semester. Scottish Church College Scholarships and other financial discounts are available for the students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is definitely among the best things about SCC Kolkata that differentiates it from the rest of the Colleges in Kolkata. The teachers are all highly qualified, very experienced, and knowledgeable about their subject. The faculty makes the classes really interesting and makes sure that you understand the topics properly.
 

Placement Rating
Since most of the programs offered are related to Arts and Science, students studying in these courses are driven towards higher studies or research work. As far as B.Com and BBA students are concerned, placements do happen for them but at decent packages which mainly ranges between 1.5 LPA to 4 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
The College has nearly three hostels. They are for male students, female students, and Christian students, respectively. The hostels are located in old buildings. However, their condition is satisfactory. The mess charges are to be paid on a half-yearly. Hostel is managed by a faculty superintendent. There are a few rules for the boarders, like outsiders are not allowed to spend night, good behavior with other students, all gates will be closed after 9 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
College's infrastructure is well-developed on a departmental basis. Each department has its own library, apart from the Central Library which houses a good number of rare and old books. The computer labs, especially at Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science have quite impressive as they have 100s of computers and educational softwares for the students to use. Laboratory assistants in various departments are quite cooperative.
 

Campus Rating
The College hosts several student clubs including Drama, Singing, Photography, and Creative Writing. While it may not have the sprawling festival culture of larger private universities, the close-knit community and the College's long-standing traditions give campus life a sense of identity and belonging that students often come to value deeply. Every year, the College hosts a cultural festival which is one of the best College fest in the Kolkata.

    Scottish Church was founded by Alexander Duff in the 1830. It is a Christian minority college but everyone can get admission here. I chose this college because it is a highly reputed college in Kolkata with respect to both its education and environment.     Firstly my overall experience at Scottish is truly remarkable. I won't exaggerate but will tell the truth only. Everyone knows about Scottish and how its legacy has lived so far but after coming here I finally understood why it is so famous.     Overall, my experience in this college is very healthy. It is highly disciplined in every field whether it is in studies, sports, seminars extra. Our professors have nice bond with us. They really care for our future studies, if we take initiative by ourselves also. Henceforth, in all official works we will get help from any one.
