Janki Devi Memorial College Faculty Profile, New Delhi

The faculty is another area where my experience has been mostly positive. Most of the faculties have been alumni of top Institutions which are a good thing since you get to know about their ideas and opinions on that also which can be useful for students. If there's one thing I actually really like about my department is its professors. Now I would like to bust a myth here that College professors don't teach or they don't care about students which is one thing I have particularly encountered and have come to the conclusion that it is very much false in my case, rest depends on your department and course. What I especially like about the faculty is the fact that the faculty members are not confined to merely teaching the course outline and moving on. The department makes use of lectures alongside tutorials, individual presentations, and class discussions. Students are supposed to attend lectures actively. But, in reality, it largely depends on the specific teacher and paper as to how well this is done. PPTs and digital teaching tools are also used where appropriate, but I would not describe it is a College where every class is built around elaborate presentations or technology. In Political Science, that is not necessarily a disadvantage. When it comes to solving problems, my experience shows that the professors are quite helpful when the matter concerns academics. When you have any confusion regarding the subject, assignments, presentation or reading, you will get some kind of help from the professors in most cases. The recent Political Science students also share the similar opinion as they find the professors very helpful and knowledgeable and even ready to give notes or references.Read Full Review

The faculty members of my department are quite nice. Almost all of them have done their Ph.D from reputed Universities. They all have different teaching techniques, few prefer PPTs, few prefer to have group discussions while others still follow the traditional teaching technique. However, the problem-solving ability is great of our faculties and 90% have great bonding with students and are very approachable and always ready to help. The teacher student ratio is also nice.Read Full Review
