Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay Mumbai Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

SJMSOM building is one of the worst buildings on the entire IIT campus. Looked the oldest and classes without air-conditioning. The construction is finally on for a new academic building of SJMSOM and I hope next time, I see the college I see a new building. Being a part of the IIT campus, SJMSOM students had access to all the facilities that were there for the IIT students be it the playgrounds, gym, or the library. We had a separate library but we could still use the IIT library. There are 3 canteens in all and Tansa canteen was the one which was located at the student’s residential zone and that was the one I would recommend for snacks. The hostel 11 canteen was the dining area for the hostellers.

Since there were only engineers you won’t get any diversity and all the students thought process was the same. Those who were not happy with engineering chose MBA and those who were happy chose M.Tech. Interacting with peers was fun but I mostly stayed in my room. The IIT fest was again not meant for us and we just had 1 event the entire year in which IIT students didn’t even come as they felt we were not worth it. IIT Bombay arguably has the best infrastructure. If one doubts, they can read as many reports they wanted. Located in Pawai which is a high-profile area of Mumbai makes sure that you may not be well connected to all areas of Mumbai but you will get all you desire with 2kms from the campus. I was never onto sports but IIT Bombay made me fall in love with sports as it has a huge football ground and when you have people cheering for you from the stands, you will develop a habit of playing the sport regularly. Other than sporting facilities the campus had some of the best flora and fauna as you will see a mini rose garden and some beautiful gardens with students practicing yoga. Some were even turned heaven for smokers but this is part and parcel of student life. All in all, infrastructure was mind blowing.

When you sit beside someone you know is better than you, you will have butterflies in your stomach. The feeling of it so intimidating that living with it for two years was more than I ever dreamt of. It was a dream turned into reality at SJMSOM and I have shared my honest views on each section for you to think of SJMSOM before targeting B-Schools.Read Full Review

The campus being in one of the best colleges in India helps immensely. The IIT-Bombay is a township in Pawai and the township is highly rich in fauna and flora. The greenery at the campus is only increasing with time as I went to the campus lately and the green cover has increased from then and now. There were incubator labs for the start-ups. Both SJSOM and IIT-B students used these labs as students doing engineering and management studies are never short of idea. There were three or perhaps world class swimming pools at the campus. The other sporting facilities too were exceptional. Then there were banks, theatrical clubs, mountaineering clubs and you just have to name your hobby and you will find a room or hall allotted for that.

The campus was of immense help for those who want to have the best job or become entrepreneur. The college has resources for both and before you step out of the gate, you have already made way for the future.Read Full Review
