Academic Qualifications

To be eligible for taking the AIL LET 2026, students should have completed 10+2 from Punjab School Education Board or equivalent examination that is recognised by the Punjabi University, Patiala.

Meet Any One of the Below-Mentioned Criteria

Students applying under the Defence category should meet any one of the below-given conditions:

• Children of serving Personnel with a minimum of 10 years of continuous service.
• Children of IA / IN / IAF Ex-Servicemen (ESM) granted regular pension, liberalised family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalided medical board. This includes children of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
• Children of IA / IN / IAF ESM who have taken discharge / release after 10 years of service.

For Adopted / Step-Children and Children of Remarried Widows

The adopted / step-children and children of the remarried widows are required to fulfil any one of the below-listed norms:

• Adopted children of IA / IN / IAF Personnel at least 5 years prior to seeking admission.
• Step-children are eligible provided they are born out of a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the IA / IN / IAF.
• Children of widows of IA / IN / IAF Personnel who are born as a result of second marriage with IA / IN / IAF Personnel only. However, children of widows IA / IN / IAF Personnel born out of remarriage with Non-IA / IN / IAF would not be eligible for admission.

Conditions in Special Cases

The eligibility of the applicants in the special cases will be considered upon satisfying the requisite conditions, as applicable which are listed below:

• Children of Army Postal Services (APS) Personnel:

Any one of the below-given requirements is to be satisfied by the wards of the APS Personnel:

• Children of APS Personnel classified as ESM as per Government of India, Ministry of Defence letter Number 9 (52) / 88 / D (Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
• Children of those APS Personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
• Children of APS Personnel who are directly recruited into APS and those who, as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS after completing their minimum pensionable service.

• Children of MNS / TA Personnel:

Candidates meeting any one of the below-given requirements will be eligible:

• Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years of service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
• Children of only those TA Personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

Candidates who are Ineligible

The following students will be considered ineligible for applying under the Defence category:

• Those who are not included in any of the aforementioned categories.
• A candidate who has passed any examination of a statutory University, recognized as equivalent to the course in the College(s) / Institute(s), shall not be permitted to appear for the examination for the same course.

Definition of Dependent Children for Colleges / Institutions

Wards of Defence Personnel who meet any of the below-mentioned criteria will not be considered for availing the reservation benefits:

• Sons: 25 years of age or employed, whichever is earlier
• Daughters: Till married or employed, whichever is prior.
