PUCET (UG) Exam Pattern 2026: Marking Scheme, Exam Day Requirements & Total Marks

PUCET UG exam pattern 2026 is designed by Panjab University, Chandigarh. As per the same, the mode of the exam is Offline – Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based. There will be 4 papers for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Biology, respectively. In addition, each paper will be held for 70 minutes in different slots.

On the basis of the PUCET UG 2026 exam pattern which is specified by the Panjab University, the test will have 4 subjects / papers which are Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Moreover, the time limit for each paper is 70 minutes.

Note: Each and every candidate has to opt for a subject combination between PCM / PCB / PCMB / Mathematics only, as per their choice of the program and the subjects they have studied in the last qualifying examination.

The Panjab University Chandigarh (exam conducting body) allots the marks to the candidates in the PUCET UG exam as per the marking scheme specified by them. On the basis of the PUCET UG marking scheme, students' skills like analytical, mathematical, and others are evaluated.

• 2 marks will be allotted to the candidates if they mark the correct response for a question.
• Negative marking is applicable; -0.25 marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer.

Compensatory Time

In each paper, visually handicapped and persons with disability (PwD) candidates will get an extra time of 20 minutes to complete the entire paper.

Scribe / Writer Facility

The PUCET UG exam pattern 2026 states that the exam authority allows the students to bring their own scribe in the following cases:

• Blind
• Permanently disabled from writing the paper with their own hand.
• Cannot write the paper due to fracture of the right or left arm, forearm or dislocation of a shoulder, elbow or wrist, etc. In addition, to prove the temporary disablement, students have to submit a Certificate from a Professor of the specialty concerned of a Medical College and where there is no Medical College, from the Chief Medical Officer of the District.

Note: To avail the scribe facility, Persons with Disability (PwD) students need to contact the Assistant Registrar, CET Cell one week before the commencement of the entrance exam.
