The PU MET eligibility criteria 2026 has been prescribed by Panjab University, Chandigarh (conducting authority) on its official website. Students who wish to appear for the PU MET exam 2026 must have passed Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree or other equivalent in the respective discipline & secured the minimum qualifying marks.

There is no minimum or maximum age limit to appear for the entrance test. Moreover, students of Indian nationality, Foreign Nationals, and NRI can apply for the PU MET.

Academic Qualifications

According to the PU MET eligibility criteria 2026, applicants who have cleared UG / PG / equivalent in the respective stream are eligible.

Qualifying Marks

The PU MET eligibility criteria 2026 states that the minimum qualifying marks required for attempting the entrance exam is 50% marks & above.

Age Limit

There is no lower or upper age limit specified by the conducting authority for taking the PU MET Exam.

Nationality

Based on the PU MET eligibility criteria 2026, Indian Nationals, NRI candidates, and Foreign Nationals can apply.

Note: For MBA in Retail Management / Banking & Insurance Management / Capital Markets / Infrastructural Management / Business Analytics / Information Technology & Telecommunications Management, candidates who have cleared AMIE exam after passing Diploma with at least 60% marks or above are also eligible. Additionally, such students must have a minimum of 5 years of research / teaching / professional work experience.

* For the above-mentioned courses, a relaxation of 5% marks will be granted to the aspirants belonging to the SC / ST / BC / PwD categories.

• The eligibility of the students will be considered provisional at all the stages of the admission process. If the applicants are found to be ineligible at any stage then, their candidature shall be cancelled.
• As per the PU MET eligibility criteria 2026, aspiring candidates who are going to appear for the final Degree exam are allowed to apply and appear for the entrance exam provisionally. In such a case, the students have to meet the requisite eligibility requirements at the time of admission or else they will not be granted admission even though they have appeared for all the stages of the admission process.
• NRI students who do not reside in India and cannot participate in the admission process have to submit their GMAT scores, Princeton (USA).

Special Points to Consider

Students should be aware of some of the important points about the PU MET reservation criteria 2026 which are as follows:

• The reservation for the SC & ST category applicants can be inter-changeable. This means if an adequate number of students is unavailable to fill the reserved seats for the ST category then, the remaining seats will be filled by the suitable candidates belonging to the SC category, and vice versa. In such a case, the reservation will be subject to the conditions given below:
  • Students who have been granted admission on the basis of merit will not be included in the number of seats reserved.
  • If the seats reserved for the SC / ST applicants remain unoccupied, a further relaxation in marks may be granted in the order of inter-se merit among the applicants.
  •  Candidates of SC / ST category who have migrated from the State of their origin will be granted the requisite concessions / benefits from the State of their origin and not from the State where they have migrated.
• Among the 5% seats horizontally reserved for the PwD students, 1% admission seats each will be reserved for the applicants having Physical, Intellectual, Mental, Neurological, Blood Disorder, multiple, or any other disability mentioned in the RPWD 2016 Act. Students claiming admission under PwD category should have the capability of pursuing the desired program & should have at least 40% disability certified by the Medical Board of District / State / Union Territory (UT) / Medical Institution of National Importance. The requisite Certificate has to be further authorised by the Medical Board of the Panjab University Health Centre.
• For PwD, if 5% reservation reduces to 0.5% to 0.9% then, the same shall be considered as 1 seat. However, admission seats shall be equally distributed for all the 5 categories of disability if the number of seats is divisible by 5 after calculating the number of seats based on 5%.

* In case any seat is still left after equal distribution then, it will be granted to the applicants as per inter-se merit among all 5 categories of disability. Further, if the seats reserved for the PwD candidates remain unfilled then it will be sanctioned to the General category students.

• NRIs & Foreign Nations (FN) from the non-English speaking countries who have qualified the requisite Degree / lower exam from a Board or Institution or University & had English as medium of instruction for the complete program are not required to pass IELTS / TOEFL. For this, such candidates have to submit a ‘Medium of Instruction Certificate’ issued by the concerned Board / Institution / University they have formerly attended.

Candidates who look forward to appearing in the University-level entrance test should make certain that they satisfy the PU MET eligibility criteria 2026 for the desired program & then complete the registration.
