Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Lavanya Mittal

The guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology is a Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University affiliated and is a Sikh community college. There's a reservation for the Sikh community in this college. My overall experience through college can be described as 3/5. My 1.5 years of college went online however. I chose the institute because it has a good reputation as compared amongst other IPU affiliated colleges and connectivity from different parts of the state are not that difficult as compared to ones near bypass. Sikh students who scored less in entrance exam can get branch of their choice (mostly) since they have a minority quota in the college.

Any student who gave JEE Mains is eligible for getting in admission in the college. The college offers bachelor's in technology with specialisations in ECE, CSE, IT, AI/ML, etc. The EEE branch is discontinued from the campus now. One needs to fill the IPU form in order to get admission here and wait for the counseling. If he/she gets this college in any of the counselling round then they have to deposit Rs. 40,000 (as per 2020 batch) and come to the campus for the further process with the required documents.

The faculty in the college here is qualified and many of them are really helpful. Most of the professors here are even Ph.D holders. They have a good teaching style however cannot be relied upon completely. Being a student in electronics and communication engineering the faculty we were under was helpful and shared a good bond with students.

The college has a training and placement cell headed by a placement head. They don't provide much help in acquiring the jobs however a reason to this for our batch could be recession as well. Although, they conducted 3 paid exams and were forced upon students this year which did not have any good value from the placement point of views. And the students who did not paid the fees for these exams were debarred.

No hostel facility available.

There are 3 academic blocks in the college campus. Number one is bvs block which consists of seminar hall, basement, exam cell, placement cell, etc. along with lecture rooms with 3 floors. Then there's a lecture block which consists of reception and stuff and mainly lecture rooms. The third block is lab block which consists of all types of labs. Behind lab block there's a canteen. There are parking facilities also available however students are allowed to park only 2 wheelers. The campus also consists of a central courtyard where any event takes place. Students also play around there like cricket, volleyball, basketball, etc. They have 2 libraries, one of which is a book bank from where you can issue a book for the complete semester and hence cutting the cost kf buying the books for studies.

The overall campus life is average but it becomes memorable somehow. The crowd in the campus is decent as majority of students are Sikh community students so no smoking or stuff like that is neither allowed nor done by the students. The crowd even outside of the nearby area is decent since the college lies in a good place. There are many clubs in the campus including bhangra, dance, singing, photography, acting, writing society, and many more. The fests used to take place before Covid and have not happened from a long time now.
