Acharya Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Dev Rishi Verma

I have done my postgraduate in Acharya Institute of Technology, and I can say that it is one of the best colleges in India. I came from a small town, and entering this college felt like a whole new world. There are over 4 thousand students who attend the college and people from all over the world come here. During my final year, there were actually students from over 40 different countries that were in this college. This is the reason that this college even has a whole process for admissions fully online. All you have to do is fill out an application and email it to the college. Then, you’ll be contacted and have to send some documents, and if you are accepted, you can go ahead and make the fee payment online as well. You can also come directly to the campus and go to the Admissions office, and they can help you with the process and you can also ask for a tour of the campus. I have provided an honest review that will help you understand the college in and out.

I did both my undergraduate and postgraduate in Computer Science and Engineering course. To join you have to have a bachelor’s degree in the same course and at least a score of 50%. Also, you need to take the Gate exam. The subjects are very hands-on and practical here, and I was definitely thankful that R.V. College of Engineering prepared me for this rigorous schedule. There are a total of 6 graduate programs here in the college. So my M.Tech lasted for four semesters, and I was happy with the courses here. I was really into cloud computing during my undergraduate studies, so it was nice that I got to get even more into the subject here.

Almost all of the teachers that I dealt with here are very strict. They don’t allow for any disturbances, and if you do, then they just tell you to go out. I guess this is because it is a post graduate course, and the teachers want to make sure that the college keeps up with the best performance possible. Most of the teachers have experience in research also, and have been at this college for a pretty long time. Maybe because this is a PG course, so we really got to have a lot of practical knowledge and industry visits. The teachers have a lot of contacts with companies, and provided us with visits and also guest lectures.

AIT Bangalore has an astounding placement rate, and over 90% of my fellow classmates were placed. This started during our second to last semester, and some of the companies that came were Godrej, Indiamart, and Tata. Before the companies came for placement, we had a few brief placement training sessions that were to prime our communication skills. This was conducted by mostly our own faculty like in our department. The average package that people got was about Rs. 16 lakhs, and the biggest one was Rs. 45 lakhs.

I stayed in the hostel during my first two semesters of my M.Tech. There are 4 hostels for boys and 3 for girls on campus. One of the unique things about my hostel was that it actually had delicious food. The menu was fixed for a week, and then it would change, and then be repeated every month for a semester. Then, it would be completely changed during the next semester. So, it was nice to know like what to look forward to and you could plan your meals and outings accordingly. Also, one thing to note is that there are non-veg and veg food available as well as south Indian and north Indian food. There are many restaurants and like cool cafes surrounding the college. You can choose rooms ranging from one seater to three-seater. There are laundry facilities as well. In terms of facilities the hostel is quipped and the best option to consider for staying if you are an outsider.

Apart from the many hostels on campus, some of the other facilities are a library and many sports fields. There is a track field, a football field, badminton courts, and basketball courts. All of the facilities serve students from all different courses and programs, so it allows you to meet a lot of people. There is a whole building dedicated for just laundry, so you don’t have to worry about washing your own clothes. Also, there’s a clinic on campus for any of your health needs.

Acharya is one of the best engineering colleges in India. I think the thing that I enjoyed the most here is the Acharya Hubba which is the college’s fest. It is huge, and has like over 20k students from all over India participate. I was more into sports in my undergrad, but at this college I got into cultural activities like the dance team, and it was probably one of my best memories of my whole college experience. One thing that I thought was really unique here was the variety of sports teams here. Like they have fencing, boxing, and even archery. Overall, this college really provided a balanced academic and extra-curricular experience for me.
