Acharya Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Diksha Gupta

More than studies Acharya is known for shooting spots and an infrastructure that need no words. Academic wise it comes down to a point which course have you selected. After graduating from CMR Institute of Technology, I did M.Tech and can say that Acahrya is more than decent. The lecturers in comparison to my previous college were below-par. Unlike my previous college the scope of extra-curricular activities is much less but it’s there. Yes, but one thing in which no one can beat this college is the lavish annual fest called ‘Acharya Habba’. I was a student of M. Tech (E&C) and it is one their illustrious branch. Many people have often complained about AIT’s teaching abilities and all but I would say if you are doing post-graduation if you want to know and excel in something, you have to do it on your own as the lecturers can only guide you and they did that wholeheartedly is what I felt. I was guided to the right path and therefore it hardly matters as you will do great things if you are at AIT.

I think my overall review was about academics. In engineering if you think PG also have that many books and doing lectures is how you will get through it, then you are wrong. The more practical it was, and the number of subjects were just too high. At a point it did felt like clearing some 30 odd subjects in 4 semesters is not my cup of tea but somehow, I did it. The academic is given a lot of focus on as if you are below 6.5 pointers you are not even allowed to sit for placements. That thing was put in our mind the day we joined and for the 2 years all I did was study and study.

Mix bag for sure. Without taking name, I will tell everyone through this medium that some of the teachers brought a note with them and in a lecture of 1 hour all that she did was read that. No questions, no explanation, her hands expression was the only thing that we had to figure out what they meant. This is the quality of the faculty at AIT. I thought our branch had some problem and then I came to know that our branch is the best of them all. I and my fellow students kept gushing that how is it possible but this how most of the faculty members were. Some of them though had another story as they were not just co-operative but took the repeated class if the students demanded. The number of such faculty was few as most of them were like the ones I mentioned earlier.

Since 80-90% of the students were the ones who had 6.5 aggregate and we all got the placements. The average was around Rs. 12 lakhs as some of them who were outstanding got the jobs worth in excess of Rs. 20 lakhs per annum. Some of us including me had a placement of one-fourth of that. Like at various engineering colleges the IT companies were at the helm and international IT companies’ numbers were surprising. Dell, HP, Cognizant, Accenture all were there.

Since the college is far off from the city, my parents allowed me to stay in the hostel. There were 3 girls’ hostel at the campus and also had 4 boys hostel buildings. HKG hall of residency is where I stayed and in a twin sharing room. The room size was enough, and the lighting, furniture and bedding was top-notch. With the kind of money that they charge, the hostel facility was overall good. The hostel also had a mess and we were free to choose from vegetarian and non-vegetarian option. As I come from a Baniya family, my parents made sure that the seating for veg and non-veg is different only then they will allow me to stay at the hostel. Fortunately, it was separate and so were the hostel buildings for boys and girls. The sanitization facility at the hostel was great and I can say that I have made some of the finest memories during 2 years of my hostel life.

They couldn’t have found a better location that this. Yes, far from the city but still the campus that boast a lot of selfie points is something to die for. The campus has more filmy elements that many film cities, I guess. The campus is also colourful and vibrant. The campus is a heaven for smokers as there are many smoking zones (Not official) that students can go to for smoke. The digital library will give you an unmatched learning experience since the faculty is of no use. Hi-tech seating facility in the classrooms and modern interiors in the classroom made us go to the class daily. There are doctors on the campus and the college also has tied-up with some nearby hospitals in case of emergency. To cater daily needs of the students the college has a bank and Axis Bank ATM along with some food courts and retail counters. The sporting facilities that many colleges in Bangalore boast about should just visit once AIT and then decide.

The life at the campus was great. In terms of infrastructure there was nothing that we can’t do. We were free to roam inside the campus and can access to coffee vending machines that are installed at the campus at any point in time. The time just flew by and even though AIT was not that great has at least got me to a place where I wouldn’t have been if AIT didn’t have such an amazing placement facility.
