Sharda University BA+LLB Review By Abhineet Singh

I am a student at Sharda University. I am pursuing a B.A +LLB from School of law. My University is one of the best universities on this side of Uttar Pradesh in terms of the overall college experience. I am currently in my penultimate year and part of the 2017-2022 batch here. I fell in love with college infrastructure on day 1 when I entered the university for my admission. It's all made of Red bricks which give a different kind of vibe. The University is located in Knowledge park 3. It's a lush green campus with its hospital and all kinds of essential amenities are present on the campus itself. You will find students from many countries. So if you interact with them you will get a taste of different cultures too. My journey started with a various session conducted by the college with guest speakers from various fields of law.

The faculty is very good for the school of law and as per my knowledge in different branches too as Sharda prides itself in providing quality education. So you will find teachers to be good in the art of teaching although there can be a few exceptions. Sharda University is Ranked 4th in North Zone so you know that they invest in their faculties and since Sharda imparts multidisciplinary education so you have the benefit of that though. Almost every kind of course and degree to get enrolled is available here. However, the most popular fields are Engineering, Medical, Business, law. You have to be ready for regular weekly tests, Assignments, Presentations based on the kind, of course, you will enroll. In law, we have 2 semesters every year with midterms and semester exams are the main ones you should be ready for. Everything is well planned though there is trouble of time- table change which happens almost every 3 months it is a little troublesome to deal with.

The faculty who come to Sharda University mostly stays for a year or 2 because most of them come for experience so be ready to say goodbye to good teachers and try to make the most of it when they are there. Although, some have been teaching here for a long time. Also in my case, I have six subjects this semester so expect one or two professors to be average, not in knowledge but their style of teaching does not suit me. As the college reopens post- covid we will request a change of faculty. As generally, We don’t get efficient replies via email and they take several weeks. So be on the lookout for this and don’t just depend on emails when contacting the university. Also, be vigilant and keep proof of any mishap if it happens.

This is what every student and their parents are concerned about. So if you do well in college and get good grades you have a better chance of getting placed. Just try to be in the top 10 in your class. The university lacks in teaching practical things so try to learn them on your own so you have a better chance of getting placed. The placement cell is decent enough for every branch so if you have done internships and have a good grasp on your key subjects your odds of getting placed are high. Try to be in touch with placement cells and also be on the lookout for internships as the college provides little assistance and things in this area have just started to pick up. Every branch has a different placement cell so I can only say for my school of law. I don't have much idea about other fields.

I Lived in the hostel so I can be a better judge of this than anyone. Here you have options according to your pocket you can choose A/C rooms or normal rooms. Food is slightly better in costlier hostels like in Mandela. The food is nutritious but not that good. I recommend catching breakfast and dinner only. In breakfast, you get milk, banana and egg too depending upon the day. The food in the afternoon is edible but it's not tasty enough. Though you do get evening snacks with tea which is usually good enough. You have the option of choosing shared rooms. Though be wary as students from all over India come here. So issues may arise so try to figure it out at the beginning of the sessions with the help of the warden. The hostel is equipped with Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras and Lifts to take you up and down. Now hostels have electronic entry so you can only enter if you have the personalized id cards given by the respective hostels.

The University is spread across 65 acres so you can imagine how big it is. It is always brewing activities and sports. You can play all sorts of outdoor games like football, basketball, volleyball, and cricket. The buildings are made up of red bricks and the campus is green so it's a treat to your Instagram worth pictures especially during the monsoon season. The libraries are equipped with all the modern technology and sitting arrangements. All the newspapers and magazines are available in almost all of the libraries. Watch out for the Vivekanand library which holds a large collection of books as well as has a cafe inside it. In the evening or morning, you can enjoy the vibe of campus on a stroll.

The university is equipped with high-speed wi-fi so you can enjoy learning and entertainment without any breaks. The crowd is also diverse and quite decent. The campus has a nice ambience so there is no need to worry about security all around you. There is also Lego house, Your campus friendly canteen/Restaurant you can order all sorts of food their veg or non-veg. There are different kinds of small shops available to satisfy your food buds in different corners of the campus. ‘Chorus’ organized by Sharda University is one of the biggest festivals of North India and many popular singers and DJs often come to this 3-day festival. Also, different kinds of events and competitions are organized with exciting prizes up for grabs. You can order from there and eat while sitting on the green grass. Shakes are popular here, You will find Cafe coffee day too. So You can choose according to your budget. In the Afternoon though, right outside gate no. 4 you will find good food for munching at a very pocket-friendly price. Along with juice and shakes, you can save loads of money if you choose to eat or drink outside.
