B.K. School of Business Management MBA Review By Mitesh Yadav

I don’t know when IIM Ahmedabad was established but B K I suppose is one of the oldest for sure. Not just the academic schedule of the institute is tight but the faculty too is very committed. The one thing that should be cherished about this college is the fees structure. The B-schools today has started looting while B K has maintained the fees structure so that many can afford. Yes the facilities in comparison to various private Universities are less but still enough I would say. I am not saying that B K can beat the top B Schools but still enough to give you good stable life afterwards. I still can’t believe that I completed my MBA in less than Rs. 30,000. It’s not about the money as the quality of education that the college has provided was believe me much better than the likes of Nirma University or LJ for sure.

The college is one of the oldest management colleges in the state and has gained a name due to its high academic values. The students are given a nice treatment and the clean classrooms and environment was enough to make us feel home while studying. In MBA classes are compulsory and so are attending the practicals. The CMAT score and that too high CMAT score are required to get admission in this college. The college just has 2 sections for MBA and the total students that are given admission in this college are 120. A batch of 60 is what we have been a part of and an amazing journey that changed the perception towards studies.

The fun that we had with the faculty who were so seniors was a totally new experience for me. If one professor was unable to make us understand the next stood up and this is how the professors too formed a team and also asked us to do projects in team. The only complains that I had for the entire 2 years was the amount of assignments that they gave. They always asked us more than humans can actually do and to please them was something that you will to bring aliens on earth because humans can never do what they ask. They were strict and any misconduct or poor grades were taken seriously into account by the faculty.

Finally I saw a college that actually trains us to get the placements. Look if you done your MBA with passion you will get the on-campus placement. Ahmedabad can be called mini Mumbai and the number of industries that are there the placements are meant to be. How the process start let me share that with you. First the pre-placement talks were organized where the students were asked to express their desires. After that the college placement committee invited each one of us and gave us a slot. This is how the whole process and went by and after the summer internship that we finally had our placements done. The average placement was 4-5 lakhs per annum as some of them failed to get placements and some got in excess of 8-10 lakhs as well. Major companies like Airtel, Tata Motors, Adani Group, and 4-5 banks were among the ones who gave us summer internship as well as the job letters.

There is no hostel at the campus as the campus is not that vast. However the Gujarat University hostel has seats for B K Business school and if you seek hostel facilities, you can fill the form and stay in the University hostel. The hostels are separate for boys and girls. The University hostel is clean and is a nice option as the University hostel is not that far from the college. Otherwise also, Ahmedabad has many paying guests and flats that are given only to students.

The college is not that big but not small either. The brick building is visible from far off as the building design is unique. The building is large but not tall. The road inside the campus is constructed every 4-5 years and so is the building. The interior too looks new but yes still the old method of study is prevailed. The library mostly is empty as we go to library only to take Xerox of the notes. There’s a tea stall inside the campus and no canteen in particular. The security is tight at the campus as there are some 8-10 guards guarding the campus. We have a small garden where photo sessions were held some 5-7 times every year. There were no gymnasiums or sporting facilities at the campus and so not much to talk about.

We were back in uniform again as the college has a dress code. On Saturdays we were free to wear all that we want but on weekdays dress was compulsory. The girl’s boys ratio was good as there were many girls at the college which was surprising because management college doesn’t have the numbers when it comes to girl students. The campus used to light up during events that were held every semester. Most of my time was eaten up in travelling as I used to travel from Nadiad daily.
