B.K. School of Business Management MBA Review By Manoj Vasava

BK School of Business Management is not just the oldest but is also one of the top B-Schools in Gujarat and has maintained a level of dignity ever since it started. People often check ROI before joining a B. School and in that case, B. K. is better than even the IIMs. The placements happening are nearly 100% and the companies that have employed students from B. K. are quite happy because of the kind of training that is provided at the college. The institute trains students for corporate excellence. All the students at B. K. are bright because of the eligibility criteria and no matter who you are but there are none whatsoever who can say that they have joined the institute without clearing the eligibility criteria. B. K. is not just about studies but there are many other activities that happens during the year like quiz competitions, sports fest, and guest lectures among others.

Many institutes in the name of MBA have made a mockery of MBA while B. K. has a very standard way of teaching. Strict classes from 8 am to 4 pm. In-between breaks and practical classes 2 days a week. Submission on Saturday and you Saturday means Saturday. If by chance you have failed to submit you will have your share of the penalty. There are 2 sections in all and each section has 60 students. The second-year saw shuffling as per the specialization chosen by the students and the batch size became even smaller. Each student was given enough attention and all the fine-tuning that was required to mold us into a ready product was done at the institute.

For every subject, we had 2 professors and they both combined and took the classes. It was unique but this is how they operated. If one fails to deliver the other one surely will deliver. The students had every right to complain available if any faculty member misbehaves or discriminate among the students. It’s because they had their researches going on they also bombarded us with so many assignments that we hardly had any time left for us.

As soon as we enter the final year the placement drive can happen at any moment. Each student is been asked to fill the industry choices by themselves and most of us ended up getting the sector of our choice. The companies were also so happy visiting the campus because they get young leaders and fresh talent who have been trained with the latest skills and most importantly communication approach. Companies that visited the campus were scattered across various sectors and therefore made our choices even wider. The top MNCs that visit the campus almost every year include Adani, Axis Bank, Citi Bank, HDFC Bank, UBS, Berger Paints, Toyota, and Yes Bank among many others. The job roles offered in terms of percentage include banking and finance 30-40%, 20-30% in consultancy firms, and rest in other sectors like the IT, Auto, Pharma, and others. The average was around about 5LPA and the highest packages ranged between 10-12 LPA.

The institute doesn’t have a hostel but the GTU hostel in Ahmedabad has a small quota for B. K. Business School students. The University campus has both boys and girls hostel and many students used to stay there as it was closer to the college and also feasible in terms of fees and other facilities that were required. I had my uncle staying there and I used to stay with them but I would have loved to be a part of hostel life if my parents had allowed me to.

Just like IIM-A, B. K. does have a brick wall campus and is so well maintained. There is just 1 building and it has blocks within. On the left side of the building were the lecture halls and the right side was the staff room and admin department. From the gate to the building it was a 20-30 meters road and that was it as the campus was not that huge. Inside the building, there is a library which is small but has a Xerox center inside, and that came in handy as we didn’t have to step out for the notes. B. K. is one of those rare colleges that doesn’t even have a canteen. The lunch break lasted one and a half hours and that was enough time to travel to any part of Ahmedabad and have our lunch.

For students blazer is compulsory and no entry without a neatly tucked uniform. The breaks in-between were the best time of peer bonding and that was when we discussed the course and the future plans. All the students of the institute were so dedicated that some of them utilized every second at the campus. A few of them even skipped lunches so that they don’t miss out on anything important being discussed at the campus. The events happened inside the campus and that was the time when I saw some nerds moving to the tunes. The fresher’s day, the convocation day, and other small or large events were celebrated at the college. Students were asked to be present at all the events because attending lectures was not the only motto of the institute.
