Amity University in Kolkata is a private university that offers a large variety of courses in various streams. Amity Kolkata has become a brand name due to its mesmerizing infrastructure and top level education. The admission process is simple. First, you need to fill the application form and then you need to keep a check on the status of the same. Then you'll be given a date for your written test and interview. And if selected, you'll be informed by the University. Direct admissions are also given to those students who secure 80% or above in their XII board examinations. Coming to the college management, then I would say it's neither good nor bad. It's somewhere in the middle because at times you'll find the management to be weak in some aspects. For instance, they could take too much time for getting your work done or they'll take spontaneous decisions without any prior knowledge. But, overall you can bare with it.

I joined the course, BJMC, i.e., Bachelors of Journalism and Mass Communication. You can join the course no matter if you're a science, arts or commerce student. You need to pass the entrance exam and the interview. The written exam will be an amalgamation of general knowledge questions, some simple maths questions and grammar. The reason to join this course is that you'll get to know about several aspects of Journalism and Mass Communication in details. You'll learn everything new and absolutely different from whatever you've studied in your school. The course will provide you a fresh and interesting experience. The course subjects are really good. Semester wise you'll be taught different subjects. Some of my favorite subjects are - advertising, marketing, public relations, TV production, etc. But one problem is that some unnecessary subjects like - Behavioral science and foreign language subjects (either French or German) will be included in your academics. These are compulsory subjects. Moreover, this course will help in boosting your career and straightforwardly, it'll help you in fetching a job.

In my course, there are 7 faculties and 2-3 additional faculties for the additional subjects like - Behavioral science and foreign language. You'll find many faculty members in the University for different courses. Roughly, there are around 240 faculties in the University. The faculty members are really experienced and are experts in their fields. They are highly qualified. In my course, there are faculties who have been experienced in television production, radio jockeying. Also, there are faculties who've completed their PhD, some are psychologists. And, yes they do teach the subjects really well. Now, it depends from teacher to teacher. Also, if you don't like the way of teaching of a particular teacher, then you can fill the faculty feedback form which is available in your amizone portal and if majority of students give negative reviews to that teacher, then that teacher gets replaced.

Amity University Kolkata have a placement cell and they offer 100% placements. I'm still yet to be graduated but my seniors have been placed in some of the best companies like - Amazon, Flipkart, etc. Some top companies like - Zee News, Godrej, ABP News, Byjus, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. visit the campus for placement. The average package received is Rs. 3.5 LPA. The package can be as low as 1.5 LPA. The highest package can go up to Rs. 14 LPA. For instance, a student was provided a high package but for that, he had to agree to a contract of working in Delhi for at least 2 years. Many students decide to go with masters after completing their graduation. And many receive good placements by the University. For being eligible to get campus placement, you need a minimum CGPA of 6.5. The faculties help you a lot with placements.

The girls and boys hostels are separate. The accommodation is for around 700 students. The hostel fees is Rs.1,00,000 per annum and also, one time security fees of Rs.10,000 is required. Though, the security fees is refundable. There's a hostel canteen that offers some delicious food. The quality of the food is good. There is tight security in the hostel and there are certain rules which you've to follow. Both A/C and Non A/C rooms are available. The hostel is designed in a beautiful manner.

Amity University Kolkata's infrastructure is one of its own kind and students fall in love with it. AUK is situated in an area of 110 acres land. There's a big garden inside the campus. There are three big canteens in the campus. Moreover, Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) is also available inside the campus. Basketball court, huge auditorium, a central library, a studio for BJMC course students, court room for LLB students, labs for B.Tech students, sewing machines and other facilities for fashion designing students and many more facilities are available. Also, there's a clinic and ambulance available in case anyone falls sick or gets injured.

Overall, the campus life is a good one and you'll enjoy your time inside the campus. You'll enjoy clicking photographs inside the campus since the campus is extremely photogenic. Functions and several occasions take place inside the auditorium. Some big celebrations and fests include - Amiphoria and Sangathan. Amiphoria is celebrated in a grand way where many stalls are decorated, performances are presented and also, some celebrity singers are invited for a night concert inside the campus. Last time, they invited Papon for Amiphoria. Amiphoria lasts for 3 days and the last day is the most enjoyable one. In Sangathan, the whole campus gets engaged in several sports. Students take part in several sports and there are teams formed. Then they also get chance to compete with other college students.
