BMS College of Commerce & Management BBA Review By Rajeshwar Rao

BMSCCM is yet another institute of BMS Educational Trust. The college is overrated in some areas while it can be preferred if you don’t want to travel long and staying nearby this college. The Trust’s engineering college is far better than the commerce college as that is an autonomous one while the Commerce College is affiliated to the Bengaluru Central University. The college may be not be in ranks but is thriving to be right up there. All they need to do is rather than creating societies and encouraging students to participate in the inter-college program, they should encourage the students to be attentive in class. Once you have joined a prestigious society and know that the college can get noticed through that the student will be excused for attendance even if he/she is not that busy. There are a few areas to work upon and being a part of this institute couldn’t address them as a student but by my words will try to throw lights on those areas.

This should be the prime area for any college if it has to have in ranks. The college has some other ideas in this regard and that is why students who don’t get admission in any other colleges take an easy route to this college by paying donations. Neither students nor teachers care and rather than boosting us to be among the top at the University level, we were appreciated for our other skills. In a class of 60, you will never find over 20 students and every semester the students carrying back log only grew.

The faculty is highly qualified but the only problem is they don’t care. They don’t even care for the ones who scores consistently forget about the ones who are not scoring. It was sad to see and there is no one to go to actually and had to by with what’s in the store. The faculty members teaching methods were great and just being attentive helped understand the topics as well. My only concern with the faculty is their careless attitude, if that can change then there won’t be any issue with the college as all the other things that comes along will be an incentive then.

BMS group is known for placements and BBM students hardly go without placements. The placement cell has their own style of approaching the industries and we are also given the contingent names of the companies that will be coming. This actually made things simpler and the placement and training department was into action during then. Companies like Wipro, TCS, Amazon, and Grofers were the ones that liked the credibility of BMSCCM. The average placement during our batch was Rs. 4-5LPA and was reasonable. This department has been nicely taken care of.

The college has both the hostels, i.e. boys and girls hostel inside the college campus. The hostel students have their own things to do as the college conducts a special event only for the hostel students. I have known all this through my friends and as I have said before the college has more interest in other things than studies so this was nothing new. The boys hostel has over 100 rooms for sure and hostel rooms are provided on twin, triple, and 4 sharing. The hostel also provided proper meals and not just the south Indian but North Indian food was also served in the hostel mess.

Classrooms were more like school as three to four students used to sit in the same bench and I have seen many colleges so I know this shouldn’t be the order. The modern day teaching aids were adapted but only the benches were my issue. The library has almost all the books related to course from 11th to PhD books. Not just that though it has books from all disciplines. The computer lab had over 100 pcs and all our project work and submission were done there and that was the place where I learned how to submit projects online and all. There’s a multipurpose hall which is often used for seminars, events, and guest lectures. The canteen was the hangout spot as it is one the top floor and the roof-top canteen served one of the best tea and omlette. The college has given a lot of emphasis on indoor sports and that is why you will see one of the best badminton courts. Other than that chess is the forte of the college and why not as the national level chess competition called Mindtrick is held at BMSCCM every year. The cricket ground was small and was not properly maintained as they have invested all the money in developing indoor sports facilities.

The canteen that I talked about was the best chilling spot. We had a lot of fun chatting and connecting with friends at the roof-top. The college timing was from 9 to 3 and post that we had many societies to work with. The multipurpose hall where all the planning for the events was made was seen buzzing not just after college hours but during college hours as well. The college always had a buzz around it and if they could emphasize a little more in studies the college will be at par with many top colleges of the city.
