Loyola Academy Degree and PG College B.Com Review By Mustaq Shah

Excellence at par is how I will describe my journey at Loyola Academy. I was a part of this college from 2010-2013. The campus of the college is huge and has a lot of greenery in addition to other facilities that it has. The college is a dream college in Secunderabad. From educational point of view the years ended by so quickly and we had 10 months college as we enjoyed long vacations in-between. I can only talk about my department and I am sure that commerce department of the college is amazing. Father Joji who was vice-principal then always applauded creativity by the students. Having passed out from Loyola is like a dream come true as I enjoyed every single moment spent during my college days. I didn’t only studied B.Com but have also learned life lessons. The college is strict and I still remember students running through the gate before they get closed and this is how my 3 years with Loyola ended. 8 years down the line, I have been through thick and thin but the college life is something that has stayed with me.

The college is strict and evaluation of papers was worse than ever as nobody scores well at internals unless they have done something splendid. The college also had a dress code that is formals that has to be paired with formal shoes. If you enter the classrooms with a tuck-out shirt trust me you are screwed. In the rules aspect the college will never let you feel that you are a part of normal Commerce college. The faculty was so strict that if you are unable to answer what was taught in previous class, you are gone for all money. The only good thing is that 50% attendance was enough and on days, I felt nostalgic, I stayed home.

The college has teachers that match up the reputation of the college. The faculty used to take exams regularly to make sure that students always stay in touch. The tough but the structure that was created by the faculty created a sense of punctuality and discipline among the students. Opinions may vary but I found nothing wrong with the teaching staff as exceptions are everywhere.

Through speakers the college announces that placement season is arriving and students can enroll for the same with the placement cell. Your overall performance was considered and B. Com was probably the last stream that was called for placements. If the companies arriving at the campus had some odd jobs left they would hire the B. Com students otherwise not. This showed us the value that it brings and made up my mind that I will not stop and will pursue further studies to make sure I have the best placement among my friends. The other department which I shouldn’t be endorsing have a great track record of placements but not B. Com.

Loyola has a boys hostel facility but was a small one. Hostel for students was like a home away from the home. The hostel rooms were amazing and so were all the facilities. The hostel dwellers had access to all the facilities of the campus 24*7 be it library or sporting facilities. The hostel provided food to the students.

Arguably the most flattering thing about the college is its campus. The ones who have studied at the match-box building were left stunned seeing the college campus. The construction and renovation keeps on happening to improve the facilities. The campus has an osmosis water filter for the students. The college is spread in 130 acres and there are 6 blocks with lingo block being the main block. The campus was so vast that we had 40 minutes lunch break and it was a 10minutes walk to the canteen from our block. We had to avoid going to the canteen and rather had our food in the classrooms itself. The college has a vast parking area and separate areas for 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler. The agricultural department building which was next to the library is a sight to watch. The library has been designed in a form of bungalow that has books of all the departments. There are indoor sports facilities and gyms for fitness enthusiasts. Two grounds not so huge but were there at the campus. The campus is full of greenery and is one of the best campuses in Telangana.

Strictness was one thing and fun the other. Talking about strictness, if you are seen talking to a girl in the campus, it was noted. It’s a college that has rules and regulations that of a school. The college organizes an annual fest called RESONANCE that was a 3 day fest in which students of each department compete with each other. From Inigo block entrance father Joji shouting boys run the gate is about to close gave me nightmares in a good sense even after I left the college. Loyola Academy was a habitat in its own with 4000 students in a campus at the same time.
