I was very upset when I took admission for BDS. I was passionate about MBBS but I didn’t score that much to make it to MBBS so instead of repeating I decided to take admission for BDS with the score I got. I made it to Nair Hospital Dental College Mumbai which is ranked as one of the top colleges in our country. It is government college of medical and thus students get all the facilities just like every other government college. It is one of the oldest and the most reputed colleges in India. The college also offers three-year MDS post graduate program. Many students from Nair college secure positions in the list of university toppers. The college helps students to uplift themselves and motivates to push their limits. And no doubt these are the reasons why Nair Dental College gives some of the finest doctors every year.

I strongly believe in ‘the more you practice, the more you evolve’. And I am so glad that my college believes in this too. The quality of Doctor depends on how much practice he/she has done, i.e., how much experience does he/she has and hence, practical knowledge is very important for medical students. The faculty of Nair College understand this and thus they focus not only on classroom knowledge but also on practical experience of students. Doubt sessions are arranged by teachers to make sure that no student left behind with any topic. Class tests are arranged for practice and it helps students to look after their performance. It is mandatory to give presentation for students in fourth year. Students have to maintain their classroom attendance 75% compulsorily and practical attendance 80% compulsorily.

It is not hard to accept that performance of students is depend on teachers. Hence it is very important to have good faculty members. Nair Hospital Dental College has very experienced and talented teaching staff. Teachers have very keen knowledge of subjects. Teachers are essential part of academics but it is also very important to have lab assistants who are cooperative and with good practical understanding of subjects and we are very lucky to have that. Teachers give their best to look after every student. Practical is performed very strictly and regularly and students have to maintain their attendance compulsorily. Teachers also engage students with assignments to keep them in touch with studies.

I have nothing to say about placement because almost everyone knows unlike technical studies, placement is not a concern of medical studies. But internships are compulsory for every medical student after successfully completion of fourth year. One cannot get a degree unless he/she completes his/her compulsory internship of 365 days. The best part about studying in top ranked college is that you get to complete your internship with some of the finest doctors of country. This one-year internship teaches students how to deal with different situations. Students get very good experience after completion of this internship which develop confidence among them.

I have always been a pampered kid at my home so when I was about to shift in a hostel it was horrible for me. But I must say everyone should experience hostel life once in a life time. So, it was my first day in hostel but luckily, I got the best roommates and we were more like a family. They are still with me.

College has well-built eight floor campus. The buildings are totally under air conditioner. The classrooms have all the facilities such as projectors, speakers etc. The college has very big and well-organized library. The library has a huge collection of books and study material. The library has strict rules for readers and also the atmosphere of library is really very reader friendly. Campus has a canteen which is the best place for a person who loves to eat because the taste is too good. Also, the rates are very affordable for food items. Canteen is very neat and clean just like the rest of the campus. There are not many trees in the campus but still you will get good vibes. The auditorium is big and attractive. Most of the events and programs are organized there.

Even though MBBS was my first choice I am in love with my current studies. I don’t know if I would have ever loved and accepted BDS the way I am accepting and doing it right now. And I strongly feel it is only because of the college I am studying in. Scientific events take place in college every year and organizers and teachers make sure that every student taking part in activities. Seminars are also conducted and it is mandatory for every student to give that. This college plays an important role in overall development of students. Indoor sports are available but there is no sports ground. The campus is under CCTV cameras and it is very safe. All these parameters shape the student studying in Nair Hospital Dental College.
