I will be as honest as I can because I have attended 2 colleges and both were poles apart. Starting with Babaria Institute of Technology, Vadodara, it is a business establishment that should be given to MBA colleges for the case study. It may doesn’t sound true but this is what it is. It has won numerous awards but just like Bollywood these awards too are offered for sale otherwise there’s no chance that Babaria Institute can win a single award. Yes for infrastructure it can but certainly not for education. The college first of all doesn’t have much of a choice as there were just 5 engineering streams. The fee structure varied thrice in my 4 years and we as a student has no say in that. If the management decides a hike, the fees will be hiked. The graduation part is the most crucial for a student pursuing engineering. The rules are so hard that as a student we hardly had any freedom. If you maintain such strictness then at least keep an eye on the education part. The classes are conducted just for the sake of it. I bet ask any student about the subject and if they can answer all the questions, it will be their due, not the college's. Hence, try avoiding Babaria Institute of Technology as the campus tour will make you fall in love with the college but the real picture is much different.

This is the part for which I hate this college. The classes commenced from as early as 7.30 am for our stream. Half of the students are not over their sleep and sometimes the professors come late. However, we don’t have a choice because we can’t stay at the hostel while the classes are on. My morning sleep was usually in the classrooms. The portion and the topics that are covered are magnificent. To teach that though the institution needs proper planning on how to conduct the classes and have quality teachers who can make students understand the basics. All this was missing and it was a huge disappointment from an institute that has been rated so heavily.

The experience that they had was to envy for. However other than that they had nothing to offer. They complained to students that they can’t come and take the classes early as if we can postpone the classes. All the frustration that they had with the management was thrown at us. The attendance was compulsory and even the faculties were strict with that. However, the most important thing is that a teacher should know what they are teaching but that wasn’t the case as they were ignorant about the subjects themselves. I once asked a question on what was taught in our previous class. The teacher rather scolded me and said why you can’t pay attention when I am teaching. This was the final nail in the coffin for me as post that I never asked a single question or doubts because I knew they will remain unanswered.

Maximum 30-40% from Mechanical had the placements. The compulsory summer internship raised some hopes but even the companies that took us for the internship were surprised that we hardly know anything. All the placement-related information that is seen at various hoardings in Gujarat from Rajkot to Vapi are all manipulated as I have been in college and no one has got placement worth Rs. 22 lakhs as claimed by them. Punj Lloyd, Bhel, and L&T were the main recruiters of the Mechanical department. Strength including all sections was 200 and 40-50 at max would have had the job. The job offer letter was not worth over 3-4 lakhs for sure.

There are a couple of boys and girls hostel on the campus. The college location is such that for students coming from other cities, staying in the hostel is indeed the only option. Vadodara city is some 4-5 km and if you are ready to travel that much daily, you can look for some other options as well.

College is humongous and well-developed as well. All the hefty fees that students pay are used in building the infrastructure. From engineering to Pharmacy there are as many as 6 institutes inside the same campus. The college has over 50 buses of their own that drop students staying in any area of Vadodara city. The Krishna Ayurveda Medical college which is lately developed is an absolute peach. One can go bonkers looking at the infrastructure of the college. Even I went crazy and took admission in this college. In terms of facility, there is almost everything from hostel, libraries, and multiple canteens to auditoriums. For sports buff, there are almost all the sporting facilities.

Location wise the college is great and therefore the atmosphere inside the college is cooler than what it is in the main city. The college is next to the highway and therefore is always surrounded by hustle and bustle. All the festivals are celebrated inside the campus along with fests. Many prominent personalities have graced the college campus and have been left spellbound. If it wasn’t the education the college would have been one of the best. Not just with Babaria but for that matter, all the private colleges such as Parul University, Sigma Institute of Engineering, or ITM Universe have made efforts in building state-of-the-art infrastructure but in terms of the education they have literally nothing to offer. I am not supposed to talk about other colleges but since I know I can’t restrain myself from speaking the truth.
