MET Bhujbal Knowledge City B.Tech Review By Jinesh Bhansali

Arguably MET Bhujbal Knowledge City has made students from other cities come to Nashik for education. The institute is one of the greatest not just in terms of education but extra-curricular activities, infrastructure, and all are exceptional here. I checked the placements before joining the college and looking at the industrial base that the institute has, I didn’t even think twice before joining the institute. I wished for going to Pune but my parents insisted on me staying with them for the UG and initially I was skeptical but at the end of the day parent’s advice is never wrong is all I can say. The political connection has made the college make its mark on the map of Maharashtra but students from states like Gujarat and Rajasthan too have started coming to this college. The college has limitless opportunities and doing mechanical engineering from there was like a dream come true for me. The facilities at the campus were more than encouraging as the best architects who have designed IITs and BITs were hired to build the best facilities and MET BKC Nashik today has the best infrastructure among the colleges of Nashik.

The mechanical department was one of the strictest at the institute. The faculty was clear that unless and until you put your best foot forward, you will not have a degree from the college. The markings were strict and attendance even stricter. The mechanical department labs reminded me of the labs I have seen in Hollywood films as they were so spacious and had all the equipment required. If you have an idea in mind and want to execute the college will fund your entire project and will back you through thick and thin to make sure you don’t dire out on resources. We were given opportunities to compete in some of the top events and our college students have also represented at TATA Crucible Quiz and reached the semi-finals. The knowledge imparted at the college was unparalleled to the knowledge that the colleges of Mumbai or Pune provide.

The money power has just not been used in building a world-class infrastructure but also in hiring the best. From what I have heard is the college was ready but because the best faculty were already hired by some other universities, the institute delayed its opening until we had the best faculty on board. The faculty who are teaching in the college have tones and tones of experience and Radhika Mam who was the strictest of them all was one of the most kind-hearted lady I have ever met in my life. Mechanical department having female faculty was rare but because they were best we had around 4 female faculty. Many students from Nashik had other views about the college but I have been to Pune for my PG and can say that MET BKC was far better.

Shailendra Sir was in charge of placement cell and had a team of 20 members for MET institute of engineering. The cell has made sure that MET BKC students get placed to some of the best MNCs and for that, the department has filled the gap between academic and industry requirements in a 2-month training program. The college has an awe-inspiring record in terms of the percentage of students getting placed and the kind of package that the students are offered here. The average placement for the mechanical department was 5-6 LPA. Almost 80% of the students had placements and it was optional as the students who have changed their mind to pursue higher studies were given enough time to think over it. It wasn’t hard and fast and I seriously regret denying the opportunity I had then because doing PG hasn’t helped my cause because rather than spending 2 years at PG I could have easily gained experience and would have had a higher package than that in 2 years time.

There are 2 boy’s hostel wings and 2 girl’s hostel wings inside the campus. Non-hostellers were not allowed and therefore haven’t seen it from inside. The hostel is common for all 8 institutes at the campus and some of my batch mates shared the rooms with pharmacy and commerce graduate students. The rooms were given on twin sharing basis and food was also provided by the hostel.

The institute is located at Adgaon on National Highway. The campus is huge and has 3 gates in all. The campus is spread across 34 acres and has 8-9 institutes on the same campus. Each institute has its own buildings and has its facilities in the same building such as library and gymkhana. The common facilities include 2 beautiful canteens. One of them was run by Shree Sukh Sagar that served all the fast food items and was one of the busiest spots on the campus. The open amphitheater was a sight to watch as it had a bridge over it. The parking area was underneath that and had a parking capacity of over 500 cars at a time. The college playground was huge but I wish they poured grass on it because playing in dust was certainly not my kind and I hardly picked a cricket bat during my time because of this reason.

Students of all sects and religions can be found at the campus. The institute had a strict policy on racist comments or any comments made on anyone’s religion. A complaint on that and you could be kicked out. The fest MET UTSAV saw some of the best performances and the talent that the college produced in the fest grabbed the eyeballs of many.
