All my family members have been to other places for education as Bikaner never had a University that offered world-class studies. Things changed after RNB Global University started and people of Bikaner too started looking at it the other way. When I passed H.S.C. started exploring colleges and it was then that RNBGU just started and I decided to take a chance if it clicks its ok or else will waste one year and will apply for other colleges next year. Fortunately that never happened as RNB University has all the ingredients of making it a world-class University. The University is situated in Kolayat which is around 10 miles from the main city Bikaner. Traveling did take some doing but the University has bus facility for the students and after initially going by bike to the college, I started using the bus service. The university has introduced a learning management system where you can check how much portions have been covered and where the doubts are still available. Most of the study was done on computers as presentations and all were a part of the curriculum and coming from a school where there were 5 computers between 60 students, we hardly got a chance to study in such a way.
It was all new and even it surprised my cousins who have studied in Mumbai and Pune that even their University wasn’t that modern. My course B.Com had some compulsory subjects and some optional ones. In all, we had to clear 36 subjects and 2 backs were allowed each semester. B. Com has 6 semesters in all and the study was always a walk in the park because of the way they conducted studies. The guidance and support provided by the University were exclusive because we were always ahead of time and our faculty also compared our syllabus with that of Mumbai and Delhi University and I can assure you our syllabus was much advanced than theirs.
University being in Bikaner doesn’t mean that faculty was also from the same city. All the best faculty were hired from Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune University and they took care of the students. Each subject had 2 faculty and the number of faculty at the campus was over 100. The student teacher ratio was great considering that the University was and I believe is still running at 50% capacity. All the faculty were professional and meant business at the end of the day. No negotiations in terms of bunking or being not attentive in the class.
Don’t check the website as the placement was absolutely none for B. Com students. I was passed out from the first batch of the University and though we were assured that we will have placements, we had no such opportunities. We were trained to be professional in accounting and many passed out did get some accounting jobs but that was not through the campus. Being in a rural area has its disadvantages and this was one of the most prominent ones.
I won’t call it a hostel because there are flats made at the University and each flat is 2bhk. There are 20 flats for boys and 10 for girls. Each flat had 4 students in them and most students from villages between Bikaner and Jodhpur stayed there as they were the only outsiders and the rest all were local students from Bikaner. The rooms because I saw them personally were huge and had coolers and water heaters installed because of the extreme weather conditions in Bikaner. Each flat had a fridge as well. The food provided was organic as the owners of the University have their farms and most of the vegetables served were grown in their own farms.
In terms of area, it was bigger than most of the Universities in India. A 300-acre campus that, of course, is 90% empty but still the area belongs to the University. There are 2 buildings in all. The academic building was as huge as anything and the admin block was a little smaller than the academic block. The facilities at the University include a huge library that is stocked with numerous books and our University chancellor Mr. Ram Narayan Bajaj is also an author and one can find all the books authored by them. Unchi Udaan which is split into 2 parts is one such book authored by him and one should read that as it was one of the best sellers. Other facilities include an open playground, a basketball court, a lawn tennis court, and canteen, etc.
I did my PG in Mumbai and the kind of atmosphere we had at the RNB campus is certainly no way near. Still, in terms of the city, it was much advanced as students can be friends with their female co-students and nobody will judge you on that. The college timings were 8 to 5 and we were not allowed to enter the campus post that. Every year college hosted an annual event INSPIRE and many artists came and performed. It was huge as nobody can expect that in Bikaner. There were many competitions held among students of different streams and that is how the University is run as of now. I hope more and more people enroll at the university in times to come and take the name of RNB Global University higher.
RNB Global University is probably the best option for anyone who is looking for a college in a rural area. It is located 17 km from Bikaner. It is also awarded as the best university in the rural area by ASSOCHAM, India. The admission process is quite simple as it a private university, you can visit the website and apply for admission and call the toll-free number provided. They are available from 8 AM to 5 PM to receive calls and will give you all the details and explain the procedure. It is a ... Read Full Review
