Moradabad Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Ankit Tiwari

Moradabad has developed well in the recent past and that has strengthened the education system of Moradabad as well. I did CSE and the intake was strict as the college only had 180 seats and out of those 90% was filled through merit. 10% though came through some political or approaches with the management. There are in all 6 branches of engineering at MIT Moradabad and only CSE has 180 seats as the rest other departments only have 60 seats each. CSE being the most demand stream in engineering the seats were higher. The other reason is the quality education level that was garnered at Moradabad Institute of Technology that students applied in large number for MIT. From those 180 were chosen and this is why the students that studied at the college had a vision. I didn’t have a vision other than placements and the college did miserably as only half the students got placed and that too with less than expected packages. The career guidance was provided at the end so that we could study further because this way we could have just ruined our life even after spending 4 years in engineering.

All the department had their own blocks. The CSE block was the most advanced of them all as we had classes laced with LCD and Projectors. The class timings were 9 am to 4 pm and we had a break of one hour from 1 to 2 pm. The attendance was 75% compulsory but 60% was enough to convince the management for allowing us to continue. Attendance below that was not allowed at all and unless you know someone from management. The studies part was strict in the sense that practical missed had no extra sessions and one has to approach the fellow mates for help.

The faculty was strict and no matter who you know from the management the punishment were equally harsh. They believed in a no-nonsense policy and if we poked the faculty during the classes we were thrown out immediately and even marked absent for the next 7 classes. That’s MIT for you and finally one has to be sorry to consider them for classes again. For the students who were serious about their studies, the faculty even shared some tips and gave guidance on how to shape the future and all. It was vice-versa as you be nice to them and they will return the favor for sure.

Everyone in the city started promoting MIT as if they have got a 10 lakhs placement from there. The word to mouth publicity by college’s agents trapped many like me and after so much of pep talk on career guidance and industrial work all I thought was of a placement with some of the decorated organizations. After the 6th semester, MIT Moradabad placement cell chased us as if they are running short of students for jobs. During the final placements, the students were filtered as the ones with less than 6 GPAs were sidelined and asked to warm the bench until the intelligent ones are done. When I saw that even the students with over 7 GPA have failed to get the job, I was heartbroken and after waiting for almost a month to get a chance to present or case, we were informed that placements are done and hard luck to the ones who couldn’t get the placements. Only 50% of students got the jobs in a range of 4-6 lakhs and only 5-6 among us had a job offer of over 10 lakhs that college kept boating during the last semester.

The MIT Group of Institutions has both boys and girls hostel facilities inside the campus. One block for each with a boy’s hostel capacity of 150 students is installed at the campus. The hostel fees was 56k and the rooms are given on a double sharing basis. The mess charges were separate as 2800 per month but if we pay together the charges was 12k per semester. Mess option was not compulsory as many students have roped in other tiffin services. I am from Moradabad but we were allowed to enter the hostel if we had friends staying at the hostel. Non-hostellers could pay at the mess and have food on daily basis.

At MIT Campus Moradabad, there are 5 institutions and 11 blocks in all as all of them had a separate admin department. The campus was large and has an area of roughly 13-14 acres. MIT Institute of Technology blocks had a common library that was used only by the engineering students. The playground was common and the other facilities like the canteen and the event hall. While I was in last year, the security cameras were being installed and that will add to the security quotient. There’s a gym for boys and girls which was accessible only during college hours. The greenery at the campus was awesome as there over 100s of trees inside the campus that made sure that we are always under the shade.

MIT College Moradabad students are as hardworking as anybody. All the 5 institutions of MITGI participated in the annual fest UTKARSH. The fest was followed by sports week and finally the technical fest for the engineering students at the end of each year. Life was less complicated as attending college helped us with learning and exploring new things on day to day basis.
