Sophia college was my second home for almost 7years, right from FYJC to post-graduate diploma course! A peaceful and beautiful place. I got easily admitted to the college with my 80% marks in SSC and I entered the college like a small lost child and I came out ready to spread my wings. The college has a lot of positive and negative aspects as it's a girls college you would struggle in the beginning to make friends if you were from Co education background. It's my personal experience. The College management is absolutely not student-friendly and makes you run errands for all little things. Events, clubs & functions are something you can really look for to have fun and make good friends. Choose your college wisely after all have only 1 college life. Don't be harsh on yourselves. Go smooth and have fun, life reveals everything at each stage marks are not the end but after college life is the beginning of what you learnt.

I was a Science student throughout my journey. The cut-off for admissions in 11th std for Science always ranges between 75%-85%marks in SSC exams depending upon the competition. The College doesn't have a wide range of subjects to graduate in but subjects that you can choose to graduate from are Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences & IT which was introduced in 2014 but I would highly suggest if you choose IT subject go for some other college as there are no IT faculties directly from the college and the management lacks experience in handling the IT department & it becomes a mess of time for students as I had many friends there who were struggling to understand. Coming to the good part laboratories are really well maintained and equipped. Last but not the least post-graduation in Science, again there are not many subjects to major in, it's the same as graduation subjects for Masters degree and there are always 2 in house seats offered. Apart from that, there are postgraduate diploma courses to choose. Today's world demands at least a graduation before you step in the work phase of your life. Always choose the subject beforehand for your graduation, don't be naive and just go take a degree because it's a reputed college. At the end, your skills and interests would keep you up and not the subject.

The Faculty in the Science department are really hard to handle. It's a school environment totally and the main faculty i.e. from the Principal to the major decision-makers there are sisters, hence the strict environment. You can use your phones only in the canteen and nowhere in the college & violating the rule would confiscate your phone for a day or two with some amount of fine. That's okay it's a part of college life but there are many other rules which drain you out in the long run. Teachers at the graduation level are good and helpful if you are an obedient and attentive student while teachers in FYJC & SYJC are very difficult to handle. The faculty is very favorable to first benchers and rankers while average and mediocre students just have to find their own way.

There are no such placements exactly suitable for the subject you are graduating. I've seen students joining Wipro & TCS with Microbiology and Chemistry Subjects. I mean why the full drama of Science then when tech is your field. It's just these 2 companies I have seen recruiting students at graduation level that too with a conditions list to qualify first. Talking about the Post Graduate diploma course I did Quality Assurance in Food & Pharmaceuticals that was a heavy pay for my parent. I did it because they offered placements but again it's not guaranteed, it's about how you perform & it's always the case in every interview but the drawback here is the students only who are in the teacher's white list get the chance for the interviews, rest have their own battles to win on their own. But the placements are good and salary range is around 15-25K.

It's a huge campus with a British king infrastructure, you can even see the king's face carved in some of the places in college. The king had donated the place to a sister and she apparently made it as a campus. These were the inside Sophia stories. Bhabha hall one of the best college halls located in Sophia is a thrill to be in for watching stage shows. The library, triangular garden & study room are places always to remember in the campus.

The best part always is the campus. You can have your own sweet time roaming, reading, eating, chatting, studying, or even sleeping in the campus. In the world of chaos outside it's a palace of peace inside the college. Yes, the college was originally a palace now being a college.
