I have been studying at Sophia College Mumbai for five years. Initially, I tried to switch my college since it is an All-Girls college and also, it is far to reach from any station. So, I thought that I will not be able to adjust to this environment and I will be the only one traveling from the Virar-Churchgate local train. But the first time I went there, my opinion changed. Breach Candy is one of the richest areas of Mumbai. So the people out there are friendly and humble. What is better than just studying in one of the top 10 and the prettiest colleges of Mumbai? The first trip to this college made me feel like some celebrity. (PS: Many of the film shootings keep happening there.) Also, there are many fests and clubs that one could get a chance to get your-self enrolled with. The practical labs and the libraries are all up-to-date. The crowd at Sophia is not of a particular community or group. There is a variety of people coming from different areas and different cultures. No doubt Sophia is an autonomous college, but it is affiliated to the Mumbai University.Read Full Review
Sophia college was my second home for almost 7years, right from FYJC to post-graduate diploma course! A peaceful and beautiful place. I got easily admitted to the college with my 80% marks in SSC and I entered the college like a small lost child and I came out ready to spread my wings. The college has a lot of positive and negative aspects as it's a girls college you would struggle in the beginning to make friends if you were from Co education background. It's my personal experience. The College management is absolutely not student-friendly and makes you run errands for all little things. Events, clubs & functions are something you can really look for to have fun and make good friends. Choose your college wisely after all have only 1 college life. Don't be harsh on yourselves. Go smooth and have fun, life reveals everything at each stage marks are not the end but after college life is the beginning of what you learnt.Read Full Review
If I compare the college with its counterparts like Jai Hind College, KC, or Xavier’s, Sophia College Mumbai is as good as them and the only problem is that its all-girls college. Other than that, everything remains the same. For BMM, they have introduced an entrance and therefore it enhanced the quality of students that were admitted in the college. An entrance creates a huge difference in the intake of quality of students and thereby it helps the college to garner same prestige as the above-mentioned colleges. Many notable alumni have been a part of this college and this is now an 8-decade old college, and that makes its alumni base one of the strongest. Even after doing so well, the college is an unknown commodity even in Mumbai. No big firms accept students of this college and this is one of the drawbacks otherwise the college has done brilliantly academically.Read Full Review
