My VMMC: A sacred place

Overall Rating
Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College is a college offering MBBS, MD, Dental and nursing courses. This college is well known because of the Safdarjang Hospital that runs under it. It has been ranked as one of the topmost colleges of India and it definitely is. The minor drawback is that it has a small campus area but that too the authorities are trying to expand. This institute offers very good salaries to its employees and other perks too. I personally feel very proud to be part of it.
 

Academics Rating
Like for MBBS, BDS, and Nursing, we all have that one common NEET UG exam. The top rankers of India get to enrol in this college via counselling. Generally, this college closes around ranking AIR 150 for MBBS courses in the all-India quota for the general category. For IPU quota rank may reach 3000. Students are very studious and hard-working here. VMMC makes the best doctors. As there is lots of patient load and for its OPD slip, the queue starts as early as 5 am in the morning. Having a lot of exposure leads to better practice.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties that teaches us are themselves doctors. They all are consultants and practitioners that take out their precious time to teach us. Our college time is 8 am to 4 pm. Out of this, we are posted in different wards, OTs, and OPD between 10 am to 1 pm. These 3 hours are the best to learn where we come in exposure to patients. The style of teaching of the teachers sometimes gets boring as they all are doctors and none of them is a professional teacher. Although they may be expert in their field but may not be able to teach us so well.
 

Placement Rating
There is no word like ‘placement’ as such. After the 4.5 years of MBBS, we do an internship for 1 year. After that, we have to take the NEET PG exam for getting admission to PG like we give NEET UG for admission to MBBS. After the result of NEET PG, according to ranks, we get allotted college. So no placement as such.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we do have a Girl’s Hostel, an Old Boy's Hostel, and a New Boy's Hostel. The hostels are just well built just as other hostels are. We have rooms with double sharing. The bathrooms and toilets are common for each floor. The electricity is totally free. We can get our AC/Washing Machine/Refrigerator installed without paying any extra charges. We have a basketball court and badminton court in the hostel and table tennis also.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Our campus has a college and hospital included in it. Theory classes, Pathology Lab, and Microbiology Lab are in the college building. We have: 1. New OPD 2. New Emergency Building 3. Sports Injury Centre 4. New Sports Injury Centre 5. Super Speciality Block 6. H Block 7. Heart Command Centre 8. Library. The nearest metro station is AIIMS. And the AIIMS hospital is also just at a road crossing distance. We have overall 7 entry/exit gates in the campus. Overall the campus is good but as compared to other colleges, we have a bit less spacious campus.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life is good. Like we party, we study, we cry, we dance, we celebrate festivals, we organise fest, we call celebrities to perform, etc. Our annual fest name is NIRVANA which is one of the largest fests. In the campus during the daytime, a lot of crowd is there due to rush and gush of cars, autos, bikes, taxis, etc. But after 4 pm when the OPD timing is over, the crowd subsides. After that campus is a peaceful place.
