Maharaja Manindra Chandra College. I am still a part of this college as I belong to the 2018-2021 batch and spending my last three months with it. I am in Journalism and Mass Communication department. Everything in this world has two sides and this theory also applies here. My journey in this college started with creating a bond with our teachers and seniors and making pals. Our teachers guided us not only in the field of education but also in life. Then over time, we get involved with projects, debates, seminars, and case studies. Our teachers helped us to gain practical field experience by encouraging us for internships.

Our skilled teachers helped us to gain academic knowledge through debates, group discussions, presentations, seminars and field works as well. For the first time in life waited for lectures as they were not only about bookish knowledge but also were lessons for life. The teaching process is unique and they used many creative techniques to grow our interest in our subjects. Like any other graduation college, our college also has different degree courses in BA, B.Sc, and B.Com. For the previous batch, the course was divided into three academic years, but now it is divided into six semesters which you can call the CBCS system.

Teachers in all subjects are experienced and skilled. All of them have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in teaching. In my subject, our teachers used to teach things in interesting ways but if I talk about the whole college faculty, some of them only take the bookish knowledge seriously and this thing should be changed. Sometimes it can create extra pressure on students. Though the faculty of every department are skilled and wise, The journalism department and the Computer Science Department are considered the best faculty in our college by many students.

Our college has a separate placement or training cell to provide career options to eligible students of different courses. Besides that, faculties start to train us for field experience from an early stage. As I have said earlier, they focus more on practical value except for a few teachers. After one or two years in the course, they encourage us to go for short-term and long-term internships and always guide us if we have any problems. They make sure when we go for an interview in the future, we can crack it and teach us accordingly.

Our college doesn't have any hostel of its own. This college is under the University of Calcutta and the University has a hostel facility. Though our college does not have a hostel, there is no problem finding nearby accommodation at affordable rates. This collage is situated at the heart of North Calcutta, Shyambazar, and there are many PGs, rental apartments, hostels for both boys and girls available. Some of my friends and seniors stay there for their studies.

Our college does not have any sports ground but there is some more facilities are there and those are worth mentioning. Our college is divided into three buildings - The main building, the Annex Building, and Vidyasagar Bhavan. Among these buildings, Vidyasagar Bhavan is under renovation after Cyclone Amphan hit the city. Besides that, our college has a common room for students to relax which has 2 carom boards and a table tennis board. Our college also has gyms for both males and females, a canteen that provides students tasty and healthy food, air-conditioned computer labs, departmental offices for lab-based subjects and a big library which a huge collection of study materials, books, and magazines.

My college encouraged me to go forward in life. Especially in lab-based subjects, there are scopes for internships are provided by the college as provided to me. My seniors are well established in life after passing out from college as they were trained for this life. The college occasions like fests and socials made our bond stronger. I have come across supportive seniors, batchmates, and teachers. Our teachers gave us guidance that we can apply to every situation in life. It also gave us a chance to know our city even more. Though it does not have a lavish infrastructure, it has support, knowledge, kindness, and empathy. There are positive and some negative sites to my college that I have shared with you all.
