Life at Government Engineering College Wayanad, Mananthavady

Overall Rating
Government Engineering College, Wayanad, is a very good institute run successfully by the Kerela government. The campus life is good but the lack of infrastructure is the main issue here. The college has been developing rapidly in the recent years. The nearest accessible town from the college is Mananthavady.
 

Academics Rating
The college is a bit behind in the case of academics. The college faculties are trying hard but the students who join this college typically have low entrance ranks so the level of students’ excellence is a bit behind. But nowadays, excellent students are also joining as the college is improving in every aspect.
 

Faculty Rating
Unlike in typical government colleges, the faculties are hard working. They will be always there when you need them. I feel really lucky in terms of the faculties. They always come to classes on time. They are also ready to take extra remedial classes for weak students.
 

Placement Rating
The placements here are a little less. But it is really improving. The network of college Placement Cell is improving.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostel is well maintained and is run by the PTA.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of the college is a little backwards because the locality of the college is backwards. But it is developing and the lab facilities are improving. The college is very sensitive to floods and soil erosion.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is really nice. There are no strict rules. But still the power of PTA in the college is insane. You will have complete freedom in the campus. Students conduct the programs so we can plan them in our ways. The college faculties consider students as not just students but as independent individuals.

    Overall Rating
    The institute is located in one of the best tourist spots in south India. Climate and weather are great. The cost of living is pretty low as well, if you are eligible for the government hostel, that's a benefit as well. Other private hostels are expensive. One of the drawbacks of the college is that it is tough to access. It is not connected by any railway station. The nearest railway station is 44 kilometers away which you have to travel to via mountain pin roads.... Read Full Review

The best attraction of this college is that there is no ragging from seniors and there is very nice climate except for summers.     It is the only engineering college in Wayanad and is located in Mananthavdy near Talapuzha. It's not the best engineering college but comparing with other engineering colleges, it is not the worst, either. It has a good infrastructure but it has to be improved more.
