DAV College for Girls B.Com Review By Sanjana Mahendru

The college years have been told as the golden years of our life as we start a new phase from schooling to becoming responsible for our career and at the same time enjoying with friends. So if I talk about my college the first time when I visited there for the admission I was busy in noticing the college facilities, faculties, college view and admission process. And when we were returning one of the teachers told me and my parents about the placements and digital marketing course before the start of the classes and it was a great experience to learn that skill. During the first week, we all have to gather in the auditorium where the principal and the teachers told us about focusing on career, taking part in competitions related to personal development, college placements and supportive teachers. The thing which I liked the most about my college was the prayer before the start of the college and good environment. The main part was actually experiencing the teachings, i.e., lectures, assignments, projects related to course and class tests. And our teachers were actually so much supportive and hard working as told.

I did B.Com (Hons). The reason to join this course it that it is business oriented and provides specialization in one subject either accountancy or economics. Also, it helps in getting better job placements as compared to B.Com. And to be honest from the start I am interested in business and developing my skills in that aspect. And yeah it really helped me in polishing my skills and working hard to improve myself. As my father has his own business and I want to support him and build more so it helped me.

Thinking about faculty, one thing comes to my mind that it's not always possible to have good teachers for all the subjects. Many of our teachers were good at teaching while some were not as good as they were paid like 1 out of 6 teachers. The proportion is very low but it happens everywhere. But if we give attention to those teachers we can learn somehow from them too. And if I talk about the good ones I learnt a lot through them and it was worth giving attention to their teachings. All the teachers took regular lectures, class tests and provided us assignments time to time. So, all of them were hardworking and dedicated to their work.

If you ask most of the students why did they go for a regular course, most of them will say for placements and good job opportunities. I want to tell you that it is true my college provide good job placements but it's completely based upon your skill whether you will get the job Or not. The package of the job offers varies from ₹15,000 per month to ₹ 1 Lac per month. But the students those crack 1 Lac packages are very rare (1 or 2 only). The packages students get in our college are good as compared to the fees of the college.

There is hostel availed by the college. I'm from Saharanpur (UP) so for the course I stayed in the hostel. Hostels were not that good as expected because of the meals. Otherwise the rooms were ok and I enjoyed staying there. Roommate I got was my classmate too and we shared a good bond during the whole course. And safety measures were also so strict even being a girls college we weren't allowed to go in each other's rooms after 9:00 p.m. So the outsiders who are thinking of whether staying in the hostel is safe or not? My suggestion is that you can stay.

The infrastructure of the college was also very well maintained. The building, classrooms and desks were good enough to study well and be there. We were having a huge library, good workshops and yeah a good auditorium too for the great functions to be held. Playground was good and those who are interested in sports enjoyed being there but some specific sports only. Cafeteria and restaurants are available with good food and a complete enjoyment package with the college friends. Medical and emergency facilities were also pretty much good.

Campus life was full of enjoyment. We had different competitions to be held related sports, academic, dancing, acting and many others. Auditorium on that felt as if filled with enjoyment and motivation. Public speaking, interacting, debate and interesting competitions were also held there. And one more thing well I know it's bad to bunk classes but sometimes we did this and went in the Hall and stayed with our friend circle and had a good time teasing, dancing and enjoying with each other. So great time spent in those three years.
