Students Life at KMC New Delhi: Academics, Academics, and More

Kirori Mal College, New Delhi is located in between the beauty of North campus on one side and the chaos of Kamla Nagar market on the other side. Being a sophomore, I have enjoyed my 2 years here. I chose it, as it is one of the best colleges, for pursuing B.Sc. (Hons.) in Statistics. The college has a good reputation in both academics and cultural exposure.

Mathematics is a major requirement to pursue my course, as it requires the use of mathematical functions. CUET score of subjects like Math, a language, and 2 other domain subjects is required. Interest in Data Analytics and a drive to learn something new motivated me to enroll in this program.

Most of the faculty members of our department have PhDs in their respective subjects. Most of them have done their graduation from renowned colleges like Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College, and Banaras Hindu University. The faculty teaches not only to complete the syllabus but also to make the concepts clear. They have a fair amount of conceptual clarity, when it comes to subject matter. Overall, the faculty is best here.

The KMC New Delhi has a placement cell of its own. It consists of very enthusiastic bunch of individuals, who not only help in placements but also in internships. A placement and internship fare was organized recently. They also help in resume building.

College campus has a boys’ hostel, which is a semi modern building. College does not have any residential facilities for girls. Canteen is the latest addition to the amenities in hostel. Hostel committee celebrates festivals. Fresher’s party, farewell party, and alumni party is also organized in the hostel.

The KMC New Delhi has a semi modern infrastructure with a retro touch. Regular up gradation keeps going on from time to time in the campus. Like, the ‘Frank Thakurdas Memorial Auditorium’ which was being renovated few months back. There is NS Pradhan Library with 3 reading halls and variety of books. Apart from this, college has 2 blocks namely Science Block and Arts Block. Water coolers are in service at all floors. Washrooms require some maintenance work. College also has a canteen where variety of food options being offered. The college’s sports ground is also well maintained but lacks proper infrastructure for sports.

Campus life is full of ups & downs, highs & lows, a lot of rejections, and new experiences every day. Be it assignment deadlines or pressure of society works, the campus life prepares you for the life ahead. Being at such a prestigious college opens the doors of various new and exciting opportunities. The crowd here is quite diverse, with people of different strata coming together. Fests are being organized by departments, societies, and college administration as well. College also has a variety of clubs or cells, which helps one to pursue his/her area of interest apart from the academics.
