A Brief Review on Krishnanagar Government College

Overall Rating
I choose this College for my undergraduate study for its high reputation on the subject of history. The famous historian Amalesh Tripathi used to teach here and many famous persons such as literary laureate D.L Roy was a student’s of this college. Ramtanu Lahiri one amongst the earliest son of Indian Renaissance was associated with this prestigious institution.
 

Academics Rating
There are more than 15 departments at Krishnanagar Government College. Anyone who is interested in getting admission at Krishnanagar Government College, he/she has to get minimum 75% overall marks in class 12, however this might have increased up to the 85% to 95% in recent years due to fears competition. Academically this place is for those students who are highly qualified and motivated.
 

Faculty Rating
Academically this is one of the best colleges in West Bengal and the most elite institutions under the Kalyani University. However there is visible deterioration in recent times not only in quality of education but also in scarcity of full-time professors. There are fewer professors at the department of history that it actually required. Shortages of staff both academic and administrative are badly affecting the quality of teaching.
 

Placement Rating
One of the major weaknesses of this college is that it has rarely had a placement cell. Its students are entirely depends on government jobs. There is widespread unemployment among the pass out students of this college.
 

Hostel Rating
The college has one of the oldest and finest hostels in West Bengal. There are two hostel campuses for boys who are pretty good in terms of rooms and other facilities. However toilets are not that clean but well maintained. Also there's would have been a girl’s hostel as well by this time, since when I left college the physical structure of the girl’s hostel was completed.
 

Infrastructure Rating
A Krishnanagar Government College campus is built on one hundred acres of land. The main building of the college is an impressive new classical structure built during the colonial period (1842-43). With gigantic columns in a single row both sides of the marvelous structure creates an aesthetic artistic beauty. There are many utilitarian buildings all around the campus holding departments of Botany, Physic, Biology, Geography, Philosophy and more. These departments are well connected by paths and pavements. The play ground is one of the largest in the district.
 

Campus Rating
As I have mentioned the college has a huge campus of 100 acres, it gives the students an opportunity to engage with the nature while at the same time playing and physical exercise in the play ground. The campus life is quite interesting. Every year, the college organizes its annual fest in the college ground. There are freshers well come party both college level and departments level as well as farewell functions. There are cultural programs all around the year where people can perform according to their own talent, i.e., singing, recitation, dancing etc.
