Management Studies doesn't mean passing theoretical subjects. It's a combination of practical and theory, and clearing both practicals and theory subjects will give you the knowledge that a management student deserves. Numerous management studies colleges in Mumbai are trying to make a name for themselves in the education industry and Atharva was one of those. Atharva is an unheard name in management studies as the college is renowned for its engineering department. AIMS has one of the best faculties who will efficiently guide you. Most of the students here had some work experience behind them, and AIMS will carve out the best manager in you in 2 years of the MMS program. AIMS is for those who want to learn management studies practically. Theory classes are not that compulsory and are not held on time always. The college is promising, and the new ways of learning made me smarter for sure. The bitter truth is that students who missed out on other colleges were the ones who joined AIMS. The enthusiasm lacked in students during the first semester as they were not in their desired institution. It was after the first semester that students started getting involved and made college life more worthwhile.

It's all practical ways of learning here as MMS students are not forced to attend classes. They can if they wish to or just have to submit their assignments and can take a leave from the classes. The class was hardly fully occupied, but students who bunked often were helped during the crisis as students had assigned seniors as their mentors. The faculty believed that one should be self-sufficient in studies at this stage and therefore just made the practical sessions mandatory for all.

The faculty were helpful and quite interactive. This is what I liked about them the most. They kept running with us for the live practicals and advised us how we can finish the task at hand. They didn't just mentor us from the sidelines but made themselves available to be a part of the student's group. If you have any new ideas, you will get immediate permission to try what we feel. If some approvals from the management were required, the faculty took care of it. We just floated around as we knew we had the backing of our faculties.

There's a strange myth that management students can only contribute in a bank. Thus, banks remained very much the flavour of the placements as we had nearly 12 banks like PNB, Axis, HDFC, Kotak, and RBL to cover their lost ground. So, I looked at the other options, and it was Asian Paints that gave me the role I was looking for. They sent me to their plant in Gujarat, and since I belong from Gujarat, I had no problems leaving Mumbai and finding a new workspace for me in Gujarat. MMS students mostly were offered salary packages in the range of 6-7 lakhs, and some of the students managed to get over 10 lakhs as they had 2-3 years of prior experience.

AIMS doesn't have its own hostel and this was a setback. 95% of the students were from Mumbai but not having a hostel is indeed a setback. The college is located in Malad, and one doesn't have to worry about finding a perfect house for them, if they are travelling from other states or cities. The college location is around a residential area, and one can find many flats and paying guests at a reasonable price.

Atharva has many colleges in the same campus that is small but equipped. The buildings are nice, and so are the facilities inside them. For seminars, the college has two air-conditioned seminar halls. For smooth conduct of events, there's a large auditorium that keeps chirping because engineering students always have something or the other going on. The college has a basketball court and a volleyball net that is placed in the small ground that the college has. The college library was common and was in the main building called Atharva educational complex. The college area was good as the road beside the college was quite busy, and one can find an auto or bus to favorable location with ease. Sadly, there were no malls around or any hangout place near the college which anyways are quite few in western suburbs. This can be the only drawback as otherwise, the college infrastructure was good and well-maintained.

For management students, a compulsory dress code was there. Travelling from Mulund in a blazer in the humid climate of Mumbai was like a punishment. I often had to take a cab as traveling in local was so tiring because I had to change as I lived in central Mumbai. The campus was cool, as engineering students often pretend to be. There were few glitters and approaches from our juniors. I would still rate my college life of Ruparel College better than Atharva as the crowd of Ruparel was much better.
