SRM University B.Tech Review By Ayush Kumar

One of my sister's friend who was an alumni of SRM AP recommended me SRM and suggest me to give its entrance test SRMJEEE. I secured pretty decent marks and avail 25% scholarship. If you maintain your CGPA above 9 in all semesters then you can get 100% scholarship. This was one thing that I really liked about the college instead of being a private university. They are skilled as well as very helpful and try their best to uplift one. I also believe they played a crucial role in my character development till now. But if I talk about the bad side, the sports fee, library fee, and other charges are high which you have to pay every year in addition to your annual fees. The exam fees are high (which includes – theory and practical). The canteens are also little expensive. So , that's all about the university if you want to opt for this surely you can but, ultimately it's a tier 3 college so, I am not sure about the placement cell.

I opted for CSE with specialization in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. All the subjects are common for first year. Classes are well furnished and have all the facilities like podiums and all. Faculties are also good and provide a keen knowledge of their studies. Every lecture is about 1hrs in duration and in a day we have 6 classes which include (theory class 1 hrs and practical classes of 2hrs with 1 hrs of lunch break). In my course every theory subject will have 5 units which you have to cover for end sem. exam.

The facilities are highly qualified. Most of them are graduated from IITs and NITs. The thing that I really liked about the facilities that they are very interactive and always help you to speak up. This really encouraged me from asking doubts to releasing my public fear. Every lecturer has their own way of making their class entertaining and productive.

I don't know much about placements as I am in first year. I talked with some of my senior and they said placements are good for a tier 3 college. But, don't have any high expectations. Talking about companies there are pretty good company that comes for placement. The placement rate is low.

Hostels are also very expensive almost equal to my annual fees but you can choose whether you want or not. Only double sharing rooms are available. Rooms are furnished. Hostel facilities include gym and mess. Talking about mess, it is good with different food types and one can choose between non-veg and veg food.

Infrastructure is good. Every class is installed with podium, speakers, and projectors. Classes are well furnished. Lifts are also spacious. We also have Mac labs and other labs which are quite impressive and well furnished. Washrooms are also clean.

Campus Life is good. There are different clubs and one can choose according to their interest. It also organises freshers, fests, festival celebrations, convocations, and so on. Fests are well-organised and good this year. Nikhita Gandhi, a well renowned bollywood singer was invited. We enjoyed whole night with food, music, and night lights. it was pretty amazing experience for me.
